Total nonsense. No way in hell "most consumers" will own an HDTV by the end of 2006. Most people keep tvs for a long time, and even now plenty of tvs are being sold that aren't HDTV compatible.Originally posted by: itr
many reports have stated that by the year of 2006, most consumers will own at least 1 hdtv. even though we're not at 2006 yet, let's see how many of us actually own one.
it'd be more realistic if the channels were widely available. Maybe they will be within the next year... then a couple more years everyone will realize / follow suit...Originally posted by: Skoorb

I don't own one and couldn't give less of a crap right now, with no plans to replace our crappy 27" any time soon.

no, and there are almost no real HDTVs in exsistance. Most of the so called HDTV TVs are HDTV ready - meaning they can receive the HDTV signal and scale it down to the resolution the TV has. Most plasma TV dont even have PAL resolution (576 lines), they only have some 400something.
I wouldnt even consider getting a HDTV before they are "real".
There are more chances to get real HDTV via TV card on your computer than with a TV set.
