I gave away a 1990 (or was it 91?) 32" Sony XBR a few years ago. It's still working great for them. That thing wont die.
 
Yes! 42" ED plasma (that still looks incredible with HD material) and a 133" diaganol 16:9 front projection for big-screen viewing.

The price of rear projection HDTVs aren't going to drop much more. They are about inline with the price of previous SD rear projection units now.

Don't really like the display on projection TV's. I consider sane under 500.

Nope same here. Something about not being able to see the picture from certain angles and having the picture look fuzzy if you are not sitting at the correct distance directly in front of it.

interlaced source detection? WTH does it do? I realize that its supposed to be some sort of process in which the TV is fine tuned to display the best possible image. Is there anything more to it?

Plus I noticed that a lot of people are using a company I'm guessing called Gordon to have their TV ISF'ed?

I'm a noob to this HDTV stuff. 😱
 
I have a 27" Magnavox/Phillips HDTV recieving OTA signals from a Phillips Amplified Indoor Antenna and a Samsung SIR-T351 in my dorm. I paid 364 for the TV from CC, 25 for the antenna from Wal-Mart, and $65 for the reciever new on Craigslist 🙂

EDIT: I got it all set-up last night and I pick up all the local channels in HD no problem. I was watching some nature show on PBS|HD and it was amazing! I can't wait until the Sweet 16!
 
I have a Samsung Widescreen HDTV. Originally we had Time Warner Digital Cable. We called them up to complain about our crappy reception so they upgraded us to HDTV for FREE!

I can really see a difference if you flip between a movie on HBO or Showtime in HDTV vs. the normal. Almost like DVD quality 🙂

HD is better than DVD quality. 😉

And BTW, what do you mean they upgraded you to HDTV ? For us, if we have digital, we're good to go... we just need to get the HD converter box and the HD channels are there as long as we're already subscribed to those channels. For example, Fox Sports NY is in the basic package... as long as we have digital cable, we get Fox Sports NY HD also.
 
If you have a fixed pixel tv like lcd, plasma, or dlp you don't need to have a pscan dvd right? Unless your dvd player's de-interlacer is better than the tv's.
