Do you need the Snooze button?

I have never used it myself, but I know a lot of people who hit snooze multiple times before actually getting up. To me this is like adopting a system to get less sleep. Wouldn't it be better to remain asleep until you need to get up, instead of interrupting your sleep earlier than necessary?

I get that there are times when you just don't need to get up when you thought you did, but to use it on a regular basis... I don't know why you wouldn't just set the alarm for a later time, then get up when it goes off.

I love my snooze button. It's so very pleasant to know that I can get just a little bit more sleep. Without the snooze button I'd get more sleep, but I wouldn't be made aware of the additional gift of sleep in 9 minute intervals.

i never use it. it is a really bad habit to get into

before i went in the military, i'd use it and never get up, miss class in college, etc

after boot camp, i never went back to using it. when i hear my alarm, i get out of bed immediately

i agree, if you build time into your schedule to 'snooze', you just interupt your 'good' sleep time with a period of getting woke up/not getting back to REM sleep, total waste, to me

Depends on the day. If I'm even remotely cogent, I'll turn off my alarm and manually set it forward an additional 15-20 minutes. If I'm somewhat out of it, I'll hit snooze for hours on end. If I'm hungover, I'll just throw my phone out the window and find it later.

Snooze is for those days when you just feel like absolute shit when your alarm first goes off.

I don't personally. I just catapult myself out of bed with my raging morning erection.

Yes. I wake up in the morning more tired than when I went to bed. I usually hit snooze about 3 times before I actually wake up and consciously recognize that my alarm is going off.

I had a college roommate who used the snooze every morning. Used to piss me off. He'd set the first alarm for about a half hour before I needed to get up and then would keep hitting the damn snooze.

His clock radio sat on top of one of my stereo speakers. So one evening I set my stereo to the same station as his clock radio and turned the balance so only that speaker played. When his radio flipped on the next morning, I turned my stereo on at the same time. He did his usual sit up, hit the snooze, hit the pillow routine. Except the radio didn't turn off. So he got up and hit the snooze again and again. Finally he unplugged the radio and sat there staring at it in confusion as it continued to play.

Yup. Every week day.

Set the alarm for 5:15, hit snooze 3 times, get up at 5:42.

It allows me to wake up in stages...as ridiculous as that might sound.

I don't use it more than five or six times. Draw the line at half an hour's worth, whether I like it or not.

I find 9 minutes is not enough so I never use it. I have two alarms, one is usually 15 minutes before the other. I sleep very deep in the hours of the morning so getting up immediately is just too hard on me and it actually makes me more tired and wrecked all day if I do it. I need to ease out of it. My internal clock actually wants to wake up around noon, so forcing me to wake up at like 6:00 or 7:00 is just insanity. It's the hardest part of any work day. So with that 15 minute grace period I try to stay awake so I can wakeup a bit. Most of the time I'll fall back asleep the instant my head hits the pillow again though. I sometimes have the bad habit of doing this multiple times, but I try to limit it to only once.

If I need to be somewhere for 6:00am or earlier (meaning I'd have to get up at like 5), I find it's easier to just stay up.

No. I have the radio set to come on, so I can lie in bed and listen to news and weather before I get up.

My college roommate would hit the snooze time after time after time. One morning, she hit the button NINE times. I told her if it went off again, I'd yank it out of the wall.

Problem solved.

I am not even in need of an alarm clock 99.9% of the time. I wake up before it goes off.

I don't use an alarm. My internal clock hasn't failed me yet.

My body wakes me up before my alarm goes off by about a minute but I still hit snooze exactly twice every day.

Gotta give the puppy dogs in the bed 20 minutes of cuddle time (I may doze off).

I use it all the time, though it's probably a bad habit. I just suck so incredibly bad at waking up that it's really helpful for me to have intervals of gently waking up.

Are you my GF? She's the exact same way. I keep telling her that hitting snooze is not conducive to getting out of bed on time. But she complains that if she gets up too fast then she gets headaches. She hates getting up any earlier than probably 11AM. And it's not like she stays up late. It's a good day when she's into work at 9:30 and thankfully she works in an office where that is more the norm.

I don't need snooze and get out of bed as soon as the alarm goes off. I used to be the sleep in until noon type, but now I don't mind getting up at 8AM even on a Sat/Sun. I've begun to feel like I'm wasting the day doing the former.
