do you need a passport in order to goto mexico?

I've been to Tijuana and Rocky Point a few times without having a passport. Farther into Mexico, I don't know, but I've never had to present one.

I concur gentlemen!! I have been to Mexico about 20 times, and the only thing you need is your DL and birth certificate, if even that. Our amigos down south don't want to make it hard for you to visit there and spend some cash.......

i can go through the tunnel or take the bridge and get there (from my house to the first club in ~35 minutes). After getting to my car and leaving, i'll usually spend a good 2 hours coming home, depending on when i leave. I'm nothing but respectful to the border patrol, but getting back to detroit takes sooo long.

my dad would fly from london to houston through toronto every once in a while and spend the night in toronto. since he was technically in transit canadian customs wouldn't check him. when he got to houston he was only coming from canada so us customs wouldn't check him either.

he got sooo much scotch through doing that 😀

how about the dominican republic?

Yes, you need a passport to enter the Dominican Republic. This many not be true if you are on a cruise ship that stops there. When you arrive you will have to pay for an "entrada" to enter the country. When you are ready to leave you have to pay for a "salida" before you are allowed to board a plane. I have seen people who wanted or needed to leave suddenly on a Sunday and couldn't because they "salida" office was closed.

As long as you stay close to the border you don't need one. If you go far enough in, there is another checkpoint where the do check passports.

the only thing you need is a license, birth certificate and a $20 bill for the local authorities (ie: police, federali's)
