I envy you. I have never had a fresh east coast bagel before. 🙁 I had one my dad bought that day and flew back and gave me, and it was still delicious, but never a fresh one. 🙁

It's a great day when you get to the bagel shop and find several batches 20 minutes out of the oven. You bring those things home, eat one or more, then immediately freeze the rest. Next day about a minute on defrost in the microwave and it's like they just baked it that day.

I definitely ain't a bread and bread-type-food fan, but yes, I love bagels (though they are required to have an absurd amount of cream cheese on them).

Einstein Bagels are the best. I love the Blue Berry ones.

Fuck bruegger's bagels

senior year my college put a cafe in the library. during the last month of 1st semester, when I was hardcore studying for exams, I spent ~300 on bagels in 30 days.
$1.50 a bagel. average 6.66 bagels a day....

it was a wonderful time in my life.

also, a shout out to absolute bagels on the UWS. best bagels!

i love einstein poppy seed or pumpernickel with plain cream cheese...never toasted, just sliced

sometimes i like to get a six cheese bagel and just eat it plain. when they used to have the salt ones still, i liked to get those every once in a while also as a snack, also just plain.

An everything bagal, toasted, with jalapeno cream cheese is quite tasty. The only not-so-good part is the bagel itself. They should sell shaker bottles of "everything" so one could just stir it into a cup of cream cheese and eat that instead.

I voted no. Bagels are just un-good bread.

einstein Jalapeno bagels have 0 kick (I mean NOTHING) and taste like wet green peppers or something.

Try Brueggers Jalapeno bagel > owns every bagel out there.

: D

Well you see the problem I have with Brueggers bagels is it feels like I'm chewing on rubber. Einstein bagels are much softer and easy on the palette. Now I'm a sweeter tasting bagel kind of guy so hot bagels like Jalapeno will never be on my menu. So I would never know or care about a Jalapeno bagel.

Well, to be honest I love cream cheese, so bagels are just a means to an end.

But a nice "everything" bagel toasted with some butter slathered on and then mounds of cream cheese piled on...YUM.

Bruegger's recently started offering bagels with Nutella. Yes, I got me some of THAT.

Oh and I far prefer Bruegger's because they are a little tougher. That's how bagels are supposed to be. What's the point of getting a bagel if it's just a torus-shaped piece of bread?

I love bagels but I don't love what my blood glucose meter looks like after I eat one.

Though I know lots of great bagel bakeries - one good thing about NJ - my favorites come from the local Stop& Shop. wherever they get their bagels - those things are awesome.
