Where I am currently living, there are a TON of squirrels. They have become so used to us humans they seemingly have no fear. From time to time they jump out of trash cans in an aggressive manner, bully people into giving them part of their lunch, or perform a number of nefarious deeds. Most people will act startled or give in to the pressure which gives those rodents the idea they they run the place. But not me.

Occasionally, I like to feign an attempt to catch them with a quick step forward just to show them who's boss. Sometimes I have to take a few steps to show the cocky bastards that I'm not kidding, even though I really am. Sure enough they scamper away when their instincts kick in and remind them might is right.

All in all, I know what I am doing is actually going to help them in the long run by keeping them on their toes as nature intended. It helps me end my day feeling satisfied.

No, despite being the owner of a lot of fainting goats, I don't make a habit of scaring animals. I either kill them, (deer, squirrels, rabbits, turkeys), else I leave them alone.

It is somewhat tempting to startle the cats just to watch them jump straight up in the air with poofy tail but I don't.

If you own fainting goats how can you not scare them to laugh when they fall over unless too much can injure them?

I wish we had squirrels around. They are so fun to have. That and chipmunks. We have a few but they're not really domesticated and only show their faces once or twice a year.

I did get to hand feed a chipmunk last summer though. This year I saw a squirrel but by the time I went to find some peanuts he was gone.

As for the poll, yes I do sometimes enjoy scaring animals just because it's funny. When my cat is sleeping in her bed I like to extend the measuring tape and just tap her with it. She totally freaks out and gives me the dirtiest look ever, it's so funny. Then she just goes back to bed.

Bears, I will always scare them off by running in their direction and showing a stands of dominance. I think it's our duty as humans to ensure that any animal bigger than us is actually scared of us. Don't need to be cruel about it, just need to show em who's boss. :p

Does the squirrels on the campus here count?
They don't actually care if people are around as long as they aren't being looked at.
As soon as that happens they freeze, then run.
