Where I am currently living, there are a TON of squirrels. They have become so used to us humans they seemingly have no fear. From time to time they jump out of trash cans in an aggressive manner, bully people into giving them part of their lunch, or perform a number of nefarious deeds. Most people will act startled or give in to the pressure which gives those rodents the idea they they run the place. But not me.
Occasionally, I like to feign an attempt to catch them with a quick step forward just to show them who's boss. Sometimes I have to take a few steps to show the cocky bastards that I'm not kidding, even though I really am. Sure enough they scamper away when their instincts kick in and remind them might is right.
All in all, I know what I am doing is actually going to help them in the long run by keeping them on their toes as nature intended. It helps me end my day feeling satisfied.
