Do you like oatmeal?

Right after my grand parents on my fathers side got married one morning my grand mother got up early and cooked my grandfather a huge breakfast. You name it and it was probably there, well except for oatmeal. My Grand Father comes down, takes one look and says "Are we out of Oats?"

I don't think my grandmother ever cooked him anything but oat meal for the rest of the time they were married. Which was OK, since that's all he ever wanted.

Too bad my grandmother passed on a few years back or you could ask HER. They were married a LONG time, and I'm sure if there was any variation on the oat meal theme, she at one time or another did it THAT WAY!

lumpy? You did something wrong.

Maple syrup and a little milk for me.

Problem I have with oatmeal is it leaves me getting so hungry a couple of hours down the road.

Maple syrup (the real kind, not the Butterworth crap) with sliced bannanas and maybe some rasins.

1. Hop to your local health food type store, or international grocery store.
2. Buy some oatmeal, probably in the can, that's just been ground, and still has the good stuff in it.
3. Now use that, and give it time--it can take like an hour.
4. Brown sugar, a little milk, and mmmm, delicious. Also, you can use typical brown sugar, but real brown sugar is worth it. I just recently got some and started using it.

Quick oatmeal is like quick grits: all the texture, none of the flavor.

The only thing worse than oatmeal is cream of wheat. I would eat dogsh!t first.

Fried or simmered?

Fresh. I would suck it out before I ate oatmeal. 😛

Blech, I shouldn't have asked.

G'Night all 🙂

With a night ending thread like this, pleasant dreams.

OH man..I really want some oatmeal now.

I use the original non-instant kind, I like it with more liquid and firm oats. I add either some splenda, honey, sugar, whatever...hmmmmmmmmmm.

Oatmeal should actually do the opposite. You must not be eating enough...

buy old fashioned oats. the 5 minute kind. they do not turn into a horrible glue mush like 1 minute instant oats, which are more heavily procecssed. use brown sugar, cinnamon, raisins whatever. just stay away from instant. costs the same anyways.
