I used to leave my desktop running all the time, but now I turn everything off and turn off the powerstrip.

I shut my desktop off, but leave my laptop running on my bedside table playing episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000. I use AMP WinOFF to have it shut down after 2 hours.

I have the craziest dreams on the nights I fall asleep watching MST3K episodes.

I used to leave it on all the time, but I keep it off when I'm not using it to save some cash now.

Since most days I don't even get on my computer :)(), I don't bother leaving it on. But even if I did get on it daily, I'd still probably shut it down. Something about leaving it running 24/7 and having all the components (HD's mainly) running constantly just doesn't sit right with me. I've always been paranoid that my HD's will fail on me and I will lose all of my data.

Yes, I usually leave it on idling, but I set my email and chat stuff on so that I don't miss a message in the morning.

Yes. If I'm not downloading the latest TV show I missed, it's crunching Folding@Home work for Team Anandtech. Most of the time it's doing both.

On 24/7, even if not downloading from newsgroups/irc/torrents.

Only time I'll shut it off if I know I'll be gone for an extended period of time (2+ days).

Usually it's OFF at night and daytime as well during work hours.

Unless there are uploads/downloads in progress.

If I'm home though, its always ON.

Laptop is off at night. Other machines usually have somethin or the other running on em 24/7 so they stay on (prime95, webserver, etc.)

I only leave it on if I've got some specific reason - encoding video, downloading, or to record something.

Yep. All of them are busy folding.

I did just turn off my linux box this morning because it was acting up.
