I've always found that really annoying too! :) I figured that it's put in there for the visually impaired. It easier than having the characters say, "OK... Gonna type on this keyboard now... TAP TAP TAP"

However, I'd be irritated to the point of blowing my head off if every keystroke, and every movement on the screen went "Beep! Boop!"

On the topic of kids playing video games, it always cracks me up when you see a kid wildly thrashing on a current game controller and the sound effects are ALMOST ALWAYS Atari 2600 Pac-man or Atari 2600 Donkey Kong. Those must be public domain sound effects nowadays? :)

conversely it'd be kinda boring if you always had to sit through someone running a query on all the world's databases in every movie.

I'm amazed at the custom OS things that every computer person uses in movies. And that the better 'hacker' or nerd you are, the more text said OS uses.

The next 24 will be Jack Bauer sitting at a PC in every episode looking through databases. And I don't know about you man, but I watch HD pr0n by watching the hex code scroll by while it downloads.

It reminds me of one of Jackie Chan's movies. Theres a boy in a wheelchair who is always playing a handheld gaming device, I think it's a gamegear. Anyways, there are scenes where he's furiously playing and pushing buttons, yet the director of the movie forgot to put games into the back of the gamegear.

Rumble in the Bronx, I remember that scene :)
