How kids play video games in movies/TV shows. The stupid players are ALWAYS furiously button-mashing in absolute chaotic manner. Because that's how video game controllers are maneuvered right?

What's worse is that the cam would cut to the TV screen to show that it's playing the SIMPLEST game like Mario or Sonic then it would cut back to the kid - showing him mashing MAD BUTTONS like DOWN UP DOWN UP UP UP LEFT A B B B X Y B B UP DOOWN L R R R AB+XY L R DOWN RIGHT all in one second.

You know what I'm talking about!!!!!!

(sorry, this annoys me enough to create its own thread)

lol this even happens in grandma's boy and it's a movie about video games.

what pisses me off even MORE than that is when they do what you are saying, but also use fake ass sound effects.

recently though the past 3 movies I've seen with video game playing, it's all been legit games/sound and kids not crushing but pads. I don't remember what movies they were, but the games were Halo, Gears of War, and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.

If you're really into the game, sometimes you smash. But not all the time, tires you out and makes your hands sore. I sometimes thrash my keyboard when I play cs online, but I can't help it.

I tried pulling a scene on Youtube from The Wizard but I couldn't stomache watching the clips long enough to find an example.

What annoyed me more about Grandma's boy is how the main character was able to design and program an entire game by himself in just his free time.

He was working on it for like 2-3 years. You could also tell his game sucked.

It takes entire teams of people 2-3 years to create good games

In spare time alone, even a crappy game wouldn't be feasible in 2-3 years.

Kinda funny isn't it? The child actors are making a lot of money, but don't spend any time actually playing video games to know how to play. Maybe they should draw their acting talent from the pool of people who play video games more often? :p

Also in the 40-year-old virgin, when they're playing video games in Steve Carrell's house. Totally fake. I think one of them's even using an N64 controller while playing the PS2

Like button-mashing with a controller that doesn't go with the system, whilst playing a game that is not available on that system, with sound effects from a different game? :D

More absurd that the entire plot twist relies on him having the game a single, solitary disc, no source files, and that it was apparently written on the Xbox, rather than coding.

It reminds me of one of Jackie Chan's movies. Theres a boy in a wheelchair who is always playing a handheld gaming device, I think it's a gamegear. Anyways, there are scenes where he's furiously playing and pushing buttons, yet the director of the movie forgot to put games into the back of the gamegear.

What annoys me in movies is the noises dubbed in when people are using computers. Every time something changes on the screen you hear chirps, beeps, or clicks. That is just plain lame. :|

The thing that bugs me is that people watch that crap and think that's how it's actually done. ie: to install a CPU into a 1942 Buick all you have to do is take a Pentium and set it ontop of the air cleaner and wires will magically attach themselves and tune the car up.

He never did turn it on. But I think it was an Atari Lynx.

Am I the only one who finds it amusing that you don't remember what the movies were, but you remember the games they were playing? :p

What really pisses me off are the Police/crime/CSI type shows where they can search all the worlds databases in 2 key strokes. Or they can pull up the floor plan of any building in the city with 1 click.
