My old coworker/friend.

He came over here from Egypt, I can sort of understand the culture difference and all, I guess. But he still comes off as a complete fucking idiot most of the time.
I guess over there it's all about woman serving man, being slave and shit, can't even do simple effortless shit.
Dude flat-out refuses to make his own food. He scoffs at the idea of making a sandwich. Always goes out to eat. Expensive joints too. I don't mind going out sometimes, but not to sushi multiple days a week.
Then dares complain he's broke, when he'll refuse to try making his own food for significantly cheaper.
Last I heard, he was up to 5K in debt, but was still going out to eat & going to the club all the time.
When I thought I had finally landed permanent steady position in my profession, I asked if he'd be interested in throwing down on an apt. Out of all responses, his biggest worry was, "Who will take care of me?" What the faggotry?? Too much reliance on others in his culture.
I don't give fuck bout your background, or where you from. But your in America now, reliance on others makes you look like a fucking idiot.

Sometimes I just wanna slap the bitch outta him.

wait, who takes care of him now?

I don't think I've ever had a friend or well known co-worker that saved money. My friends are closing in on 30 and working part time while living at home still, but they have 0 savings and barely make it paycheck to paycheck, and still yet have nothing to show for it.

All the close co-workers I've had seem to be asking me to spot them for lunch come a day or two before payday as well. These have been at multiple jobs where we'd get $800+/week after taxes, and some of them were still living at home.

Just seems to be the American way.

Depends on the America. I'd say there are plenty here that buck that trend but yeah it's this kind of thinking that did lead us into the financial crisis we are in now. That and the willingness of banks to cater to them.

"Oh I make 25K/yr and I'm 25K in debt, can I get a 200K mortgage?"

Bank: "Hold on a sec, just need to check to see if you have a pulse. Yup, your good to go, here's your money."

I have an unemployed trust fund friend who in the last couple years spent:

1) $400k on a condo
2) $40k on cocaine
3) Three motorcycles
4) Five watches totaling $50k+, with one being $30k
5) Raided his trust fund
6) Borrowed six figures from his mom's life insurance
7) A $1m townhouse
8) Whatever toy he feels like
9) Cashed out his 401k

Yup, all in 2 years time. Now he's dead broke, and in big trouble by mommy.

LOL. Is he actually a friend or just an acquaintance?

Very close friend. I've tried to help him but he pushes everyone away. The other close friends tried so hard to help that he basically banished them (cut off all contact). They and I decided it was best for me, as the only friend left, to basically bite my tongue and wait for him to hit rock bottom and be there to help him up.

His mom caught him though, and I've been trying to get in contact with his family to put him in rehab.

Yeah, HTF does anyone know those kinds of details. I have some mouthy friends but never that much into talking of their shames.

He actually posts and broadcasts every minute detail about himself on Facebook. So you wouldn't have to be his close friend to know. Very long detailed coke binge posts/confessions.

oh and i'll add:

10) God knows how much $$$ on hookers.

Good luck with that. Hope he get's the help he needs, sounds like he has a good friend in you.

BTW what watch was the 30k watch? Patek Philippe? 😛

My nephew (22), he doesn't make much money, but he doesn't have any bills...he lives with his mom, my mom pays for his school (which he keeps dropping out of each semester).

The little money he makes he wastes on fast food (although his mom offers him a home cooked meal each night), sneakers, and expensive clothing. He got an inheritance from his grandfather, and he bought a sports car with it, spent every penny. His goal in life is to become a paid fireman, and he and his loser buddies hang out at the volunteer firehouse the belong to and play xbox all day. The kid is screwed once the handouts stop.

I know a lot of people that do. Seems relatively common in my age group, though (24). Lots of people I know eat out all the time, literally every meal. Waste of money AND not great for your health.

Why double pay the cable? So they don't have to pay latter?

they skip a month...sorry i was distracted i guess

double the cable this month...skip the cell phone
double the cell phone next month, but not the cable
so theyre never behind enough to get hassled...but never exactly caught up.

they also *needed* a newer car last year, but instead of buying something reasonable, then bought a slightly used volvo xc90. really nice vehicle, and they can afford it, but im pretty sure the payment is very similar to their mortgage payment, with a relatively high ( i forget what atm) interest rate. i couldnt believe theyd splurge like that when her job is season and they dont bother to save very much.

really, they can get by on his salary...so youd think that when she starts working and making money theyd want to save a significant portion of it. theyd still have spending money to play with anyway...they just kinda play with almost all of it.

/cant wait to get a real job, i want to have some savings damnit

This is such a ghetto approach. I don't mean this racially at all, as the several people I used to know who did this were all white, anyway.

Some people have such bad money management habits ingrained in them, they will never get ahead.

LOL. There's this young kid, probably about 16 or 17 who keep dumping shit loads of money on his computer. His original system probably cost 4 or 5k but he has since upgraded the shit out of it a number of times and had us do water cooling for him. He JUST came in a few mins ago and aparentyly he tried to tinker with the water cooling and ended up frying his Mobo and one of his vid cards. So that's $1300 to replace those, doesn't bat an eye at the cost.

Is mommy paying for it? :hmm:
