I'm a little confused. The heatsink and fan are usually sold as one unit. Are you saying you just have a fan without a big chunk of metal attached to it?Originally posted by: zamacman
So I need to order a heatsink? If so what is a good cheap one I can order? I have a asus p4p800 and 2.4c

The heatsink pulls heat from the CPU, the fan moves it from the heatsink to the surrounding air.

If it's a retail processor it will have a heatsink and fan included in the package.Originally posted by: zamacman
No I ordered a P4 2.4c processor w/Retail CPU fan from BuyXtremegear.com

You don't NEED it, the heatsink will come with a thermal pad already on it. You just peel off the plastic and put it on. If you're going to be overclocking, then good thermal grease will do a little better than the pad, but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.Originally posted by: zamacman

It will work fine. You won't get quite the performance out of it you would the PC3200, but unless you're using the machine for really intensive things, you probably won't even notice.Originally posted by: zamacman
I ordered PC2700 333mhz 512mb ram, is that to bad? I was pushing my budget and could not get the pc3200

Funny, my 3.0C came w/ thermal paste, not a pad...
