I finally got to have kids after 2 1st wife changed her mind and wanted to adopt. Seemed we were going separate ways. Thankfully at 38 I met my 2nd wife who although already had 3 kids, youngest was then 11, she agreed to have a child. At 40, we had a wee girl, and surprise surprise, wifey decided the wee girl needed a playmate, so we now have a boy of 15 mths...

I can only say I wish I could of had them earlier, as I dont think my patience is what is once was, but I certainly wouldnt change anything now. Going home at 5pm is hectic!, the place is a mad house until 7pm, however they are beautiful and give me so much pleasure. My Mum is quite happy too having 2 more grand children!

It's been proven that people with children are less happy than those without.

A lot of people regret having children, though they would never say that.

I have a 26 year old son. I raised him alone and it was the most difficult, frustrating, and exhausting experience ever. But he is also the absolute best thing that has ever happened to me and as difficult as it was, I wouldn't change a thing. He is married 4+ years now to a lovely young lady and I cannot wait for them to make me a grandma. :)

I don't know. Don't care. Whatever. If it happens, cool. If not, whatever.
I need to take care of myself first before I can take care of some little shit.

We had a long thread on that I believe, seemed to say that the statement is a fair bit of bullshit.

It's not a statement, it's a fact.

They've done studies on this shit.

http://nymag.com/news/features/67024/

"Most people assume that having children will make them happier. Yet a wide variety of academic research shows that parents are not happier than their childless peers, and in many cases are less so. This finding is surprisingly consistent, showing up across a range of disciplines."

I don't think you understand how cool some people's kids are.

1 boy (11 months old) and another boy on the way in November...most amazing things in the world when you're ready for them...btw I turned 36 this year and I was just barely ready, and aside from what some uneducated people might think I'm not nearly too old to enjoy my kids and run around with a soccer ball...plus I got to enjoy life while I was young instead of when I'm old:p

"Most amazing thing in the world if you are ready for them".

But an absolute nightmare if you aren't, I guess.

I have a decent number of peers with children, and I can in all honesty say that I do not envy their lives one bit.

Yes we do, right now we're on the 2 year plan, she'd like to have one in 2 years and I'll think about it again in 2 years. I'd like to have all our debt gone and hopefully our own house, kids are on my list but as stated some other things must be done first.

Can the people saying yes elaborate on why they want or wanted to have kids? As someone who doesn't, I'm interested
