Do you have any expensive habits?

Sometimes I sit down and calculate how much I spend in a year on stupid shit that isn't necessary. I guess the definition of an unnecessary purchase will differ for each person, but I usually consider daily habits a waste.

ie: Spending $10 on coffee, buying cigarettes, smoking pot daily

I personally keep fairly close track of most purchases, but there are a few things that would still fall in this category. I probably "waste" about $2500-$4000 a year on stuff that really doesn't benefit me in any way.

Guns and ammo are a hobby to an extent and that's not cheap but I probably spend less than $1k per year on that.

Other than that, probably just whatever new gadget that I just have to have at the time. Just got my e-ink reader a month ago, before that was a PS3, before that was a NAS before that was a 1TB HDD, etc, etc, etc...

Coffee and tea. Green Mountain coffee, Adagio tea. And occasional Lindt white chocolate or 85% cacao dark chocolate.

I have a $1000/month utilities habit. Does that count?

Only if you pay for your neighbors house 😉

cold winters and a big old house. It is less than half that in the spring and fall. I am just a bitter man ever winter...

I used to spend a lot of cash out drinking in bars. Usually $100 to 200 every weekend.

I've toned it down a lot though. I drink cheap beer at home now with my friends.

Beer and Liquor.

Sometimes I think if they charged $10 for a sixpack of Schlitz I'd be the first one in line.

I buy way too much shit. Just mostly little things like SD card here, Kill-a-watt there, clothes, random stuff on amazon. I also save up for bigger items like my new TV, stereo system, shit like that. And of course the fast food.

yes, musical equipment.

I cannot agree more.

certainly not a waste though 😉

I'd have to offer up craft beers and coffee to my "list that I could live without but waste my money on it anyway because I want to" list.
