Haven't had a land line since I stopped using 56k and switched to cable, cell phones made land lines completely obsolete.

Woot! I'm the "neither" person.
I'm at work - I don't use a personal cell phone - call the school & they'll patch it through if it's an emergency, otherwise send an email.
I'm at home - call my wife, she's probably home too.
I'm not at home & not out somewhere with my wife - I probably don't want to be bothered, or am engaged in some activity that would ruin a cell phone (whitewater kayaking) and wouldn't want to be bothered then either.

Of course I have a land-line. I'm not a total luddite. :p

Landline only.

For the first time since the bag phone days of the early 90's (from that other thread) we're sans cell phones...and really don't miss them at all.

Landline that I will NEVER give up. The incredible clarity and knowing I have rock solid 911 service and they'll know exactly where I am are well worth it. You don't get that with a cell phone. Not to mention the uptime in a power outage.

May I ask why? I can understand cutting back to just prepaid phones, but I would think things would have to be really tight to not even want an emergency phone for car trips.

We personally cut our land line and canceled our cell-phone contracts to save money. Those two were costing us $80/month. We switched to MagicJack and T-Mobile prepaid, which cost us about $17/month. The only thing I miss about having so many minutes on my cell phone is that I used to talk to my family more during my lunch breaks at work.

I have both, but I really want to get rid of the land-line. We kept the land-line originally for DirecTV, but don't need it any more. I just don't want to go through and update everyone that calls on that number...and my wife is still learning to live with a cell phone (e.g. keeping track of it and keeping it charged).

We've been talking about getting a pre-paid phone. Looked at Tracphones...but they're so far down the "pecking order" for service that IMO, they're just not dependable.

I've looked at T-Mobile as their access rates and by the minute costs aren't as high as Verizon and AT&T.

I've been very happy with Net10(Tracphone company). Their service has been flawless, and the rates acceptable(10¢ per minute call, 5¢ text).

Voted "Have only a cell phone" (T-mobile prepaid), but we also have Skype and Intalk VoIP (for business).

GET OFF MY LAWN! I've got ham radio for when the phone company and cell phone towers go belly up.

2 landlines - 1 for me and 1 for my parents

we also own cell phones, but I get no signal in the house, or immediately outside the house. have to drive up or down the road a bit before I get signal.

Two cell phones and a land line. Cell service was spotty when we moved here, so we got a land line. Now we just keep it because everyone has the number.

Same here. Never thought of giving up the landline.

I know it's not the same but meant for this poll. It's not a cell phone either...

Same here, I voted for landline although I have voip (ooma). I figured since it isn't cellular....so I only have cell phone as far as this poll is concerned.

In my case, it is still a "line" that runs over the land (cable internet), and it is hard set in one location in my home, as opposed to portable.

Landline required for DSL. Only have one phone plugged into it, and only solicitors call it. I never answer that phone anymore.
