512, i don't game since i'm falling behind in that category.
photoshop still runs alright with 512

2GB DDR2 currently. Had 1GB of PC133 on a PIII 700 coppermine back around 1999-2000 era. Kept my systems with 1GB until I upgraded recently and because I now work with DV camcorder video editing and Photoshop a bunch.

I rarely ever exceed 1GB usage, but exceed 512MB almost every time I fire up a current game. If you play games at all, spend the sub-$100 for a decent 1GB dual-channel DDR setup and you'll thank yourself later.

nope. i should get another 512 mb though. between azureus, vlc player and mozilla, it sometimes spends half a minute swapping.

yup. anything less is noticeably slower performance, and anything more is not necessary. 1GB is the sweet spot for windows xp and my uses.

Yup, and after upgrading HL2 dm started crashing... can't fix it either.

that's your cue to use the warrenty and send the bad modules in. Run memtest first of course.

Same here.

2x256 Corsair XMS (bought 2yrs ago and was pricey as hell! £150...)
2x512 Geil Value ram (bought 2 months ago £100 🙂)

1.5GB

512MB wasn't cutting it for me and p!ssing me off. FireFox likes to cache a lot of memory. I do have a lot of tabs and 7-9 windows with about 25tabs in total though 😛
