Bill "Blue Screen" Gates is a worthy example of charitable wealth and tasteful spending.

Haha that is such a funny classic pic. I forget the story behind it, think it was a traffic violation or something.

Im not advocating the extermination of diamond encrusted Escalade drivers, just that they be taken down a notch - or two.
There is an entitlement mentality among the rich people I have known. They seems to think that because they are rich they are entitled to extra services at no charge or access to stuff that doesn't belong to them. In this, they are worse than any welfare recipient I've ever met. "What is mine is mine, and what isn't mine you should give me anyway because I'm rich".

I hate the people pretending to be rich by buying homes and cars they cannot really cant afford (but get approved with their sky high interest rates) and then end up getting bailed out by those who are responsible with their money.

I've only known two truly rich people and had a good understanding of their wealth. Everyone else, I basically don't know their economic situation. I don't care if they are driving around in a $100k car, they could just be the wash boy for all I know. I try not to make judgments against people in general, especially when I don't have the information to make one, good or bad.

People who inherit(Paris Hilton) or Marry into Wealth are often the types that irk other people. Going from Poor/Getting By to "Cost is no concern", just causes them to turn into Douchebags, for many of them. Then you have your Celebrities, especially Rappers, who just can't help becoming Douchebags.

Most Rich people are pretty much as "Normal" as you or me, they just have better Stuff.

That's generally been my experience too. You wouldn't know they had money if you were hanging out in the pub or something.

I worked for a billionaire and saw him in the office every day. Talking with him and working with him you would never guess he was loaded. He treated everyone with a great deal of respect and courtesy. Heck, he ate lunch at Burger King, drove himself around, changed his own oil in his Caddy, picked up his own dry cleaning, etc. And if you think about it, it makes sense. What does a person like that generally have to be angry about? Do you think he cares what people think of him, that some people might hate him? He certainly didn't care about impressing anyone. This guy was happy living his life and was probably the nicest person I've ever met.

Edit: He did have a hobby though (that most people didn't know about). He collected medieval castles, actual castles.

Lol, that's too funny.

My theory is that nice guys generally do better in life, so it wouldn't surprise me to find that most rich people are really pretty decent folk. You don't generally become rich by having no social skills.

Now, In contrast, there are a lot of lazy good for nothing poor folk that I really don't like.

Do I hate people for being rich? No.

Do I hate people that think that they are special because they're rich? Yes.

Just because you have money doesn't mean that the rules don't apply to you.

Most of the time, they don't.

My experience is that most rich people have not earned their money. By that I mean that they didn't start from "scratch" with little or no money, and then built up their wealth. Most inherited their wealth or got a head start thanks to rich parents with connections. Some just got lucky.

That said, I don't begrudge or envy anyone. I personally don't need a lot of money to be happy, I value other things. If others need money and luxury items to be happy, that's their problem :)

Friend of my parents is pretty well-off, and he's one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He earned everything he has.

Most of the wealthy people I know live very simply, more simply than I do as a matter of fact. Of course, that's the reason they're wealthy and I'm not. :p

I usually admire rich people. I enjoy watching them and admiring how cool their lives are. Especially in movies. But I'm sort of rich myself, my life is very relaxed and very good so its hard for me to hate on anyone really.

Bill "Blue Screen" Gates is a worthy example of how after committing numerous criminal acts to perpetuate your monoply and to put your competitors out of business, people will think you're a great guy if you give away some money.
