Do you hate it when people show up at your house unannounced?

In talking with a coworker, he says he leaves his front door unlocked. Family and friends come and go freely all the time. 😕

I'm the scrooge. I don't like people showing up at my place unannounced. Then again, I grew up in a neighborhood where, unless you were using the door right then, they were closed and locked. I don't like other people at my house unless it's some kind of event like having neighbors over for fight night on Spike or throwing a backyard beerfest or something.

Am I out of touch? Should I loosen up or am I justified in the "It's MY house, dammit!" reasoning?

depends if I like the people or not.. I've lived in situations where people would walk in my door and I liked it, other times I have hated it

please phone first. for the love of God please phone first.

at least then i can air out the garage, tidy up the place and throw in some Clear Eyes.

otherwise you're just wrecking my buzz 😛

Hahaha... 😉

First of all, I always keep my doors locked. Well, it's SF, so like everybody's house, there's a metal gate up front where you can buzz people in. It's awesome btw. Anyway, if you come unannounced, I pretend like I'm not home.

I like it when people do the pop-by. If I'm not busy, it's cool. If I'm busy I'm comfortable telling 'em they need to go the hell away.

My wife doesn't like the pop-by because she feels she has to drop what she's doing to entertain 'em.

i dont get visitors, but i dont care if people drop by. its nice to chat sometimes. if you mean just walking in without knocking, hell no. knock first, bastard.

Even with family, you'd better give me at least a week or two notice ahead of time or you're staying in a damn hotel! (Family lives out of state)

NO SOLICITORS at my house!

Living in an APT with a buzzer has its benefits. If someone buzzes and no-one knows who it is, they don't get buzzed up, easy as that. I usually don't even ask who it is, just peer out the window to see if it's someone I like.

That's a no-no since my doors are always locked. I'm talking about hearing a sudden knock on the door when you're comfortably settled in doing something else like watching a movie, playing games, doing yard work, cooking, cleaning, etc. I'm always like "uh... why the hell are you here? I'm busy. Go away." 😛

I hate it when people show up unannounced. I have to drop whatever I was doing and entertain them.

Awesome, thank you. Now I don't feel so anti-social or feel so bad about being so

I don't want people to come barging in like they own the place. Call me if you want to come over, or wait until I call you. There are a FEW people who are exceptions, a buddy who's been helping me with my basement refinishing for instance, but generally, I like to know before people show up at my house.

I have one friend that shows up unannounced quite often on Friday and Saturday nights, but she is always welcome.

Everyone else = annoying.

Just about everyone has a cell phone and it's just stupid when someone can't call first. The only worse thing is when someone pops over and then chats with someone on their phone while visiting at your house.
