Out of the other exotic types of sushis, did enjoy the abalone sushi though that was mighty pricy. Love fresh uni and fresh mackerel.

lobster tail sashimi is so good

still prefer cooked lobster. same thing with sweet shrimp.

Whereas with Tuna, I much prefer the raw.

Meh, I've eaten the stuff pretty much right out of the water and I'm still alive and healthy.

I do admit though I can no longer eat swordfish since we got some raw stuff in at the restaurant I used to work at and there were the giant worms burrowing around in it. The chef/owner just said it's always like that, you just pick them out. I nearly threw up on the spot.

that's a pretty disturbing story

sweet shrimp raw is awesome. it's even more awesome when they deep fry the head and serve it to you.

Most of the big ocean fishes need to be deep frozen at least once to kill all germs. Nobody serves say tuna straight from the waters.

that roll seems to be missing rice.

I'm sure it will taste good but doesn't show a lot of artistry as anything you make with those type of ingredients will taste good.

Nachos with foie, langoustine, and alba truffles will taste good.

I like the japanese concept of serving rich things (kobe, otoro) in small amounts so that you still crave one more bite when you are finished.

Not down with the American way of slapping down a huge piece of kobe steak and charging you $250 for it and then making you very lethargic afterwards.

A good spicy tuna roll is the bomb too. I rate sushi joints by the quality of their tuna.

A really good steak will do a hell of a lot more for me than sushi EVER will.

Why? I'm white, not Asian, so I don't automatically get a hard-on for raw fish.

Okay... and I can get that from both good steak and good sushi, as well as other fine foods. Sucks to be you I guess...

never had sushi... I can't bring myself to eat raw meat in any form.

just thinking about tartare makes me want to puke.

Sushi doesn't mean raw meat, it means "pickled rice". You can put many, many things in a sushi plate.

in american, we associate sushi with raw fish regardless of the Japaneses meaning of the word that is the meaning it holds in America.

Yeah, but that's not saying much. We also associate Christopher Columbus with proving that the Earth isn't flat. We are morons on the whole.

I don't think I've ever been to a Japanese place that didn't have a wide assortment of sushi without raw seafood involved. In fact, my first sushi dinner was with a vegetarian who loved sushi.
