hmm, in CA, only place i worry about cop is really the chp on the freeway, and if someone going the opposite direction flashed there lights, if i saw it, i would think nothing of it and continue to speed 🙂

we used to flash our lights when the other person forgot to turn theirs on, then a couple of people got shot b/c of gang crap somewhere now all the panzies never flash the lights.

People who do that should be arrested. I enjoy watching scofflaws get caught.

I do that. And few times it did save me from getting a ticket 🙂

I disagree with happy here, if their system was to prevent accidents, then i would agree. but its just set up so cops can give tickets. If they really wanted less accidents, find out accident prone area and SHOW YOURSELF so ppl slow down.

but then again, im not a cop, maybe im missing their point of view?

i flash if he's not out in the open, because that just shows he's out there to make money on tickets and not to actually improve the safety on the road. generally all a cop has to do to slow down traffic is simply be visible. he just has to sit next to the road and his mission is accomplished. but when they hide, they are essentially encouraging the crime to be commited so that they can benefit from it. so when a cop chooses to let crimes be commited rather than stop them before they start, you better bet i'll warn other motorists what that jerk is doing.

very well said.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I cop makes no additional money for handing out more tickets.

Furthermore, if a cop actually gets you with a ticket it is much more likely the person would think twice about speeding now again for a while until he can get the ticket off his record w/ driving school. For if he gets another one too early, you can't avoid insurance with drivers school anymore. (Well at least thats how it is in California.) It will encourage the person to drive slower even w/o the presence of a cop there. However, I don't doubt they don't enjoy handing em out once in a while.

I don't see how the cop is the jerk, as hes not the one breaking the law but rather enforcing it. If people stopped speeding and breaking the law there would be less need for traffic cops. I got a ticket before. Guilty as charged. I paid up and continued my business instead claiming I was a victim of big bad cop.

Of course! And if I see a robbery/rape/murder in progress I always stand on the lookout for them and give them a ride to help them escape! Breaking the law is cool, and we should help eachother do it as often as possible!

My Goodness, I have seen the light. All these years of speeding, I've been no better than the scumbags you've just compared me too. Well, time to go to the bank, rob the vault, murder the security guard, and rape the teller

Why not, I'm already on that level by going ten miles over the speed limit.......aren't I 😕

However, if you are travelling the 65MPH speed limit while the bulk of traffic is going 75-80MPH, you are actually posing more of a danger by going slower than everyone else.

So if everyone else was stealing money from a broken ATM, you should too?

I do it, and thank those that alert me.

Best way I have ever gotten out of a ticket for speeding, heard this on the radio and tried, it worked. Made eye contact and nodded my head as I BLAZED by the officer, that's it, didn't even slow down. This is based on most normal people reactions, i.e. they will slow down, avoid eye contact, etc... apparently most cops wave to each other when off duty, its like a Jeep or motorcycle thingy, so when you go blasting by and look them in the eye and give a salute/wave, they assume your a cop too. I only used this because he had me dead to rights, I made eye contact because it was one of the first things I even saw, just flipped him a nod out of normal respect, as I do with most people I make eye contact with, lol, but he didn't move either...

No, but what you are saying is that small crimes are good, and we should help eachother to not get caught. Why do you refuse to follow laws you don't like, but think others should follow laws they don't like because you think they are good?

I've seen enough deaths by people speeding and accidently hitting someone because they couldn't move out of the way fast enough, but I guess that is an accident which should not be punished rather than murder eh?

So was it speeding that caused the accident or accidently hitting the other car?

yes and no. if its on a highway or on most roads i wont flash. if you are speeding you deserve to get caught. there are towns by me that have those damn speed traps and will pull you over for going 2 mph over the limit. i flash the lights here because its crap to drop the speed limit from 50 to 30 for no reason.

how do you compare safe speeding to robbery/rape/murder? uh huh.

Call me stupid but what makes a speed trap? I've never seen one before😱

where they hide out of normal view, and come out to pull people over for speeding.

usually they can't be seen until you pass them which is why flashing is beneficial.

It depends on the area. If it's a residential neighborhood, I HOPE they get bagged. If it's an area like a freeway or a speed trap, I'll flash a signal. Of the 30 or so police departments in this area, a couple are real azzholes. I think they're even listed in AAA's trip ticks.

You also going to make excuses for our illustrious Linndale Police Department?

Sometimes I will.. Usually depends on where I am, if its a speedtrap, and if the driver on the opposite side of the road appears to be driving recklessly.. If they're driving recklessly, they deserve a ticket..
