I would be absolutely fine with making less. As long as the total coming in was enough to meet our needs
 My hubby's doing what he wants to do, and doesn't care about the money, as long as the bills get paid.
So if he's at home watching Sports Center all day while you are at work, you're cool with that?
Funny you should ask that...he's a farmer, so he works his ass off from April thru November, then doesn't do much from December thru March. I work at home, so while I'm tied to my desk, he's taking a nap and watching Stargate in the other room. He earns it.

I don't think it's so black and white like that. Your wife could be making a mere $5-10k more than you... but most couples still both work... it doesn't mean you get to slack all day at home and cut off your part of the "dual income" so many of us need. 😉Originally posted by: nakedfrog

I think it also makes a difference whether you are talking gf or wife. If I was married, it's not like I can do a whole lot about it. It's not like I am going to divorce her because she makes more money. But, if I am simply dating, then yes I would prefer to make more money than her.

So basically, you're still working AND making less.

She's going end up making very close to what I make this year, and I have a $100k education while she dropped out of college. I don't mind. She is a heck of a sales person.

I personally feel that I should be making just as much if not more than she is. Any less would make me feel like she has more leverage.
It's really not that awkward when you meet the right person. I was a broke student when we met, she was well into her career path (a few years older than me). She knew right from the start that I wasn't going to be a sugar-daddy. It can all work out if you just check your ego at the door.Originally posted by: CTrain

You finally brought up the point I was going to make.
If you're a married couple, its really not a big deal who makes more.
But when you're playing the field, courting and such, its kinda awkward to be dating a woman making more than you.
I don't mean like $50K to $40K...I mean like $30-$40K more than you.
