Do you count every second you save while driving?

I see this occasionally. Car A is about to turn right and there is Car B in front. Car A speeds up and overtakes Car B in order to make a turn that is only less than a block ahead. What gain did Car A possible achieve? Saving a second or two of time?

It seems as if some people, if not more, are like robots. Just mash the accelerator without considering what is happening up ahead. Whether its a red light, traffic or a sharp turn. Just mash that accelerator.

It seems like everyone is now a lead foot. Everyone is in a massive hurry to get to wherever they are going. Once the light turns green, its off to the races. Get out of the way cause they gotta go somewhere.

I'm just probably expressing my pent up feelings.

i don't understand people that charge up to red lights. you're not saving any time and you're burning money.

Same thing with people who should yield to pedestrian in crosswalks but they see you and just drive really quickly through the stop sign so they don't have to yield.

Happens all the time, of course. Some times are more egregious than others...

I had my eye on a dumbass woman the other day driving like a fucking maniac, endangering the rest of us, swerving from lane to lane to get about 5 seconds ahead of of us. Her destination? Whole Foods.

poor time management and carelessness. the ones the weave in and out for no reason are just dbags. unfortunately ive had to witness a few of them wreck. you think in your head in anger that you want to see them get pulled over or to run off the road, but when it actually happens its a different story.

true story. i witnessed a car get pancaked by a big box truck a few years ago that resulted in a full traffic jam. some other guy and i were the only ones to get out and see if everyone was ok. everyone else just blindly drove over debris and around the big truck pretty much right after it happened.

the kicker is the accident happened because of a similar situation to the OP except on the highway. he switched lanes to go around another truck not knowing traffic was full stop ahead.

I'm more about saving gas and brakes these days. Just seems so wasteful to gas it then brake it - drive casually (still above the stupid-low speed limits) and you save a lot of stress too.

Oh gosh that mpg gauge in cars drives me crazy! I cannot have it displaying the mpg. I actually found that I average a higher mpg when the gauge is turned off than when it is turned on.

You would enjoy watching "Stranger than Fiction". Watch the intro here, it's right up your alley:

He basically has a calculating mind (not in an evil way) and they display that in the movie using really neat visual effects - like saving 43 seconds by tying his tie in a single windsor knot.

I'm usually one of the faster drivers on the road, though I don't do the dick move of cutting off other vehicles with inches to spare.

On a 4 lane road I was at a stop light. When it turned green, I accelerate fast, but the car next to me this time even blew me away, 200 yards down the road before I made it 100 yards. The thought actually came to me, that this situation is a free pass to speed just so long as I stayed a little slower than the other car, a cop would pull him over instead of me. Half a mile down the road he actually gets pulled over for speeding!

There are different things that really piss me off on the road. Saw one of the happen again today - if you are on a 4 lane road and someone is trying to make a left-hand turn onto a side street, do not be polite and stop and wait for that car to turn. The car does not have a good sight onto the other lane of oncoming traffic, it's very dangerous and I have witnessed accidents because of this. And if you are in the vehicle trying to turn left, do NOT advance into the turn until you see a car in the other oncoming lane at a complete stop.

this.

i laugh at people that will pass me to get to the redlight. it never saves any time

Thing is, if you can make one of the yellows, you usually begin hitting the timing of the lights for an easy drive of green lights for a good while down the road.

May have only saved a second or two hitting the red light, but other times it saves minutes off a drive. If you drive a lot, save 10 minutes a day, quickly turns into an extra hour every week.

what you do is get in front then slow down to screw everyone over. or you look for someone that's parked in the passing lane and you drive slightly behind him so people get mad at him.

As opposed to the great Ä, who has places to be and bitches to ho.

If a person's time is really so valuable they should leave five minutes earlier then chill the fuck out. Time is too valuable a thing to waste on road rage.

On a school bus?
