Drive slow homey. I'm pretty patient on the road, I don't trust other driver's enough to not give them a wide berth.

i don't understand people that charge up to red lights. you're not saving any time and you're burning money.

Depending on how you define 'Charge up' i do it in one of the three following situations where it can save me time:
1) Along my commute there is a space where a large number of construction vehicles will enter the road. Getting to the next light quickly ensures I am not stuck going well below the speed limit for some time behind some slow moving equipment
2) Light signal cycle groupings. There is an intersection grouping where, depending on where it is in the light cycle, one of two things will occur. If I can somewhat quickly get up to speed I have a 50% chance to make the second light and get onto the expressway quickly. The other 50% its on the other half of its cycle and I get stuck at the light delaying me for the duration of the light and placing me behind the constant stream of traffic onto the expressway. Going more slowly would guarantee I am stuck at the second light 100% of the time.
3) Sensored lights. We may leave the light at the same time if you're next to me but you should thank me for triggering the sensor so you could go sooner :p

And yes, OP. I do try different routes, time them, and count every second. The fastest route on average is the one I take. Waze is somewhat helpful.

Hey me too!

*internet high five*

I also know the various alternate routing and the pros\cons of each depending on cause of issue

I always thought it was a lot like posting on a forum. People don't need to use bad spelling and grammar, but don't take the few seconds to check over what they are writing and type it out properly.
I think it is not due to lack of checking

It's the race horse syndrome. Everyone needs to be out in front. Once they get there they are comfortable.

I love the tards that weave through traffic or streets while i just casually drive but i end up right next to them at the next stop light. I dont think they realize it though as they are that stupid, but it amuses me so its all good.

If weaving in & out works 75% of the time, and you only notice it when it doesn't work that 25% of the time, you can be amused all you want, but the other driver knows that the percentages are in his favor and he is saving time over the long haul.

I used to worry about it when I was younger, now it's, "I'll get there whenever I get there....yawn."

Here is the honest truth - while driving for me to work on how to safely get there as quickly as I can, it's keeping me awake and fully alert to the full range of traffic around me at all times. When I get into trouble is when I go into the "yawn" mode coasting at a constant speed getting more tired and lethargic as each mile passes.

Where did you get those percentages? Was there a study done on it?

he pulled them out of his ass.

I've watched people play the lane hopping game. They rarely get ahead. I think THOSE drivers are clinging to the 25 percent chance it actually works and ignoring the 75 percent failure rate.

If I'm in traffic where weaving can even be considered an option, I've already failed. I'll drive 10 miles out of my way to avoid traffic. Unfortunately, that isn't always possible :^(

There is this one stretch of road here where it has a limit of 70 which is a nice smooth double lane (one per side) road and it basically acts as a bypass to cross the river. I'll be doing 70 and some dbag will be weaving back and forth and waving his hands all over because he wants me to break the law and go faster. Finally he'll pass me in rage at like 120, only to hit the oncoming red light and I'll be right behind him. GJ wasting about 10 bucks of gas to save absolutely no time at all. :awe: He might of got to that red light 20 seconds before me, but at the end of the day, why does it matter?
