Some people refuse to see the truth in that there are people out there that would kill you for your wallet and not have a second thought about it.
I was lucky to survive my encounter. After that moment I decided I'm not going to risk my life based on luck. I'm going to increase my chances of survival how ever I can.

I'm confused. So lets say I have a gun on me. And I get assulted by a guy pointing his gun at me, demadning my wallet. Am I supposed to attempt to quick draw him?

My bumper sticker does.

HONK! HONK! HONK!

yeah, thats what I thought. Poser.

If I pulled out my leatherman squirt and swung it threateningly it'd maybe make the attacker laugh enough that I could escape.

Freaking love that thing. I had a normal leatherman for years and never used it because it was too big to fit in my pocket.

I carry a spyderco endura which would work but like most others it's not my primary reason for having it.

I too used to carry the exact same knife for "utility purposes"
I don't really need such a device on me anymore though. Sometimes on the weekend while working around the house/yard I will have it clipped on my pocket though.

/me updates my list to Santa

Luke had his light saber. Indiana Jones had his bullwhip. And now Homerboy will have...A TITANIUM SPORK!

The Spork of the Gods

Every mythic hero normally has an equally mythic weapon. Zeus had his thunderbolts. Thor had his hammer, Mjolnir. King Arthur had his Excalibur. Frodo and Bilbo had their Sting. Rhydderch Hael had his Dyrnwyn. King Kong had his bananas…you get the idea. It's time for you to join the ranks of the heroes and heroines of lore as you wield your own legendary weapon in your battle against a very powerful foe: hunger.

I have my Kershaw speed safe on me most the time.

Not so much for self defense, but because a knife is often very utilitarian.

I usually have a knife on my person but it's not for self-defense purposes (I generally prefer small folders that would be of limited utility for defense).

Got this back out after seeing them use one on "Boardwalk Empire" last Sunday. Keep it in the car.

Something of an antique, got it from an ex-cop friend many years ago.

Called a sap, Lead weight wrapped in leather with a spring handle. Very lethal, dont know if my CCW covers it.

Ill also carry my .380 if Im going someplace questionable. Probably should always carry it.

Ah man, while that's cool, I thought you were going to say you had a kick-as Skull Crusher/Trench knife like Jimmy has.

I carry a Walther PPS 9mm everywhere. I also carry a assisted opening knife with me.

The knife is mostly for utility work. The 9mm is for safety.

I'm 36 and havent come close to anything like that.
I have 4 brothers and sisters (all older), nor have they nor their significant others. Nor have any of their children. Or my aunts or uncles, grandmas or grandpas.

To assume that you will at some point in your life encounter a situation bad enough to warrant the need of a gun, IS being paranoid.

My brother was assaulted less than a mile from where you work on Wisconsin Ave, its generally a good area, but carrying spray/knife/gun(When CC passes in WI) is not a bad idea either. To each his own, I however, do not share the opinion that being prepared = paranoia
