I'm not going to go into details...I don't want to hurt his business (which in turn provides me great income as his resident techie).

Basically though he makes money and sells it to various online traders (like IGN), who then sell it to individuals.

He runs about 30 accounts from his 20+ computers. He works about 50 hours a week at it and has 3 other employees. He moves billions of plat a month.

I remember when I started playing UO at release and I made the money I needed to buy a horse by scavenging backpacks and crap people left laying around. UO was ruined DDs refusal to deal with all the egregious violations of the TOS in the early days and his inability to face up to the fact that leaving dealing with PKs up to the player base rather than making the modifications necessary to make it acceptable was a dumb idea.

I disagree. Designer Dragon was the anchor holding true to the original vision Garriott and pre-EA Origin dreamed up. "Dealing" with PKs was one of the cornerstones of that game and one small phase in the evolution of each player. The problem was that PKing got all the blame when, in fact, things like lag were what was really frustrating people. I knew a 60 year old grandmother who was an anti-PK so you can't tell me dealing with them was too much. When DD left, the game began a precipitous decline which has continued to pick up speed to this date.

If anything I'd say Raph Koster is the lone voice of reason in the MMORPG development world. SWG, for example, on paper is unequivocably the best MMORPG out right now.

It was under his watch that the game turned into nothing more than some psuedo gangsta rap-cyber punk wannabe in a medievil fantasy world with all the leet names in alt caps and totally inappropriate character and guild names. The game had all of the outward trappings of the original Ultima series but there were no underpinnings and 0 consequence to antisocial behavior let alone the massive dupping bug early on that allowed all the cheaters to fill the landscape with castles and keeps within 1.5 months of release.

Don't get me wrong, I loved his and Garriotts original visions for the game but it was clear early on that there were practical problems with some of the implementations. As for EA running it into the ground I am in 100% agreement with you.

the IRS must love him

It's almost tax free...he enjoys the same status as an international currency exchange...same status as IGN and all online commodities exchanges.

Would you like photos of him receiving his 2006 Caddilac STS custom from the dealership a few days after his 18th bday? The dealership took pics and made it a story item since he was the youngest they'd ever sold to in a cash transaction.

I guarantee you it's legit.

He's only been doing it a few months so far. He hasn't reached anywhere near a million yet, though he is trying to save to build a house cash out.

The moment of transfer generally lowers prices somewhat, but the economy can support it. Prices return to stable within a week after each deposit.

Not really sweatshop...$150 US per month is decent income, especially for doing almost nothing, in most areas of China...

KK, when I get home from school I'll toss a few up. He's vacationing right now (he bought about 40k worth of time shares) but should be back in two weeks or so. He can give more info if he wants to.

On a completely unrelated note: how the F do you pluralize time share in my above sentence??? Or would you?

Well, there's still influence sales, even if it's not as prevalent. However none of the major vendors are buying right now, an indication that either it's too easy to get or there's not enough market. I'd look for the market to pick up, at least in the short-term, when CoV goes live. Especially if influence figures into Base/Hideout construction in any appreciable way.

It's not that hard if you've got the strongest clan on the server backing you. You can make it in about 3 months assuming you're in good standing with the clan.

Now that sounds shady... I find it somewhat hard to believe that the US tax code treats in-game "money" the same as foreign currency.
