It depends, if you think God is a person next door, then yes.... all of the traditional views of God are logically impossible.

If they are logically impossible then you should be able to explain why God in traditional form can't exist. Proceed.

So what you're saying is that until proven otherwise, God does exist?

If you want to say that I can't say that God can't exist, then fine. But under those grounds you can't say that he does, so don't go around saying that he can exist.

;)

Hope you got all of that.

Your little spill assumes that I say he does or exist. What I said was that it is not logically impossible.[/quote]

Which means you're saying that it IS POSSIBLE that he exist. What, in fact you are saying is a very clever way of neither making a statement nor denying that you did not make a statement by use of ambiguity. In fact, what you're actually doing is not making a statement at all, not taking a position.

The only problem is that there is no way to be perfectly agnostic, except to suspend judgment entirely (which you haven't done, assuming it is even possible): you fall, in some small way, to one side or the other - and in this case, the way you've written the statement shows us exactly on which side you fall.

WTF is "remote viewing"???

Is that a feature built into Windows XP or something?

Edit: Oops, I'm thinking "remote desktop." I'm an idiot.

If you could take only my one statement that may be true. However you will find that many times I argue against God. Logically both the options that he does exist or doesn't exist are possible. Logic cannot say one way or the other if it is impossible or certain that he exist.

Damn I wish they had a VOTE ALL button. Polls like this take forever to answer.

I agree.

I also decided to be odd and vote yes on heaven and hell, but no on God and all that crap.
It depends what you consider hell. I personally, some areas in Africa where everyone s starving/oppressed/in a war etc would be pretty hellish to me.
And I believe (hope) that one day I will be able to find my own piece of heaven on Earth (somewhere I am totally happy).
So it depends on how you define some of the things.

I accidentally voted yes on 'Social Equality' and 'Sasquatch'. If you're doing statistics, take one yes vote from each and put it in no.

The 'supernatural' stuff is borderline. I believe in God, and I beleive that he can make anything happen that he wants, including giving people visions or ever special abilities for them to do what he has planning for them. I'm not talking about superpowers or flying, things like gifts of knowledge that they have no way of knowing, healing through prayer, visions, etc. I also beleive that Satan is real and has some power to do supernatural things (levetation, visions, ghosts, witchcraft, etc) although they are far less common.

Examples of the above are 'not everyday occurances', at best.

You're using the word 'logic' a bit too liberally for my tastes, but whatever floats your boat.

It seems you're more of a nihilist than I initially expected.

Has anyone here actually seen god, heaven, hell, or "life after death", etc?

I have heard alot of people say they believe in them but has anyone one actually seen them?

Isn't social equality a political decision?

No to all.

There are a lot of people who beilieve in crap because it is really easy to convince yourself of things. None of it is actually real though.

We really need to find that pesky series of base-pairs that makes murder, rape and turture ok, among other things.

The group of genes that forms the God Spot.... that gives rise to religion. Gross oversimplification, but you get the point.

God Spot:

A tiny locus of nerve cells in the frontal lobe of the brain that appears to be activated during religious experiences. Neuroscientists from the University of California discovered the God Spot while studying epileptic patients who have intense mystical experiences during seizures.

I'm highly suspicious of such things.

That is to say, I'd like to see a lot of proof before I accept that religion is caused by a seperate area of the brain.

Are you a Neurologist (M.D.) or intellectual (Ph.D.)?

I am neither, nor am I a fan of religion, but I am suspicious of unverified studies, and I find it hard to believe that we would have evolved such a center.
