I accept that there are things we don't understand and that most ghost stories and encounters can be explained by more plausible phenomena, but there's always that fraction of a % that cannot be explained and will continue to baffle even experts.

I can't find a valid explanation for a lot of things that occurred in my life, but that doesn't mean I start conjuring up notions of the undead/ghosts/whatever, UFOs, or anything else that I wouldn't know about unless I'd been indoctrinated into a culture which exploits such fear.

So, no.

You guys should watch Channel 15 "A Haunting" starts at 2pm-4pm Pacific Standard Time. 2 episodes. They have really good true ghost stories. Let me know what you guys think.

why would I believe in something I haven't actually seen?

dun dun dun...

Not believing in something and saying it's impossible to exist are 2 different things.

I think there is a natural and very un-spirit related explanation for every ghost sighting, I also don't think they're "evil". I don't have any belief in the "supernatural"/"paranormal", as it were.

yes ghost are real. what they are exactly that is another question.

i have seen shadow people in my house many times and so has my wife. the last time i saw one was about 3 years ago. I was sitting in th living room watching tv with the wife. from where i was sitting i can see down the hall and it comes to a "T" turn left or turn right to go to the kids rooms. Its a white wall, no windows in the hall and i saw a man size shadow walk from right to left. WTFBBQ!!! i hop up saying WTF was that and go down the hall and nobody is there. It was a perfect outline of a man walking, i know what i saw. My wife has seen other things. and we have heard voices like our name being called when either me or my wife was the only one in the house.

Except most will just say you are crazy and your mind is projecting the image. I personally don't know how the mind works. But I'm fairly confident I can tell whether something is physically there or if my mind is trying to project it. Strangest encounters I've had are simply unexplained noises, nothing visual. But I know WHAT I heard was real and not a mental manifestation.

I once bought a Stick Horse as a gift for my niece. The one I originally picked out was broken so they gave it to me for free. I gave her the working one and threw the spare in my basement. It made horse noises like a neigh sound... About a year later after I forgot about it, I got back from vacation at 1am and went to bed. At 3am, I heard something in the basement. Link to similar sound

It scared the CRAP out of me. I went outside (basement access is from a crawlspace at the side of the house) and went into the dark basement searching for the lightswitch when it went off again.

All I could figure was that the battery got low and caused the switch (the horse's ear) to malfunction. Needless to say, there was a horsehead sticking out of my trashcan the next morning. I ended up going down to the basement with this thing going off about every 10-15 minutes randomly. Makes for a good story anyway. BTW...I don't believe in ghosts.

I believe in ghosts. Wife and I have seen the same ghost and years later, sister claims to have seen same ghost in same place and we'd never talked to her about it until she brought it up.

No consciousness, no sensation of the passing of time, no interaction or presence at all in the physical world. All dead people will be resurrected into newly formed and immortal bodies at the end of the last day, and will either go to face judgment or to a ceremony of rewards. One leads to eternity in hell, one leads to eternity in heaven.

this is creepy shit right here, you are one scary man...

You say that now, but he'll be laughing his ass off when he gets Raptured away to the mothership.

My mom told me she saw one when she was younger.

She has to use the restroom, and as she walked down the hall, she saw a black figure inside the bathroom. She freaked out and returned with her brother. Of course the figure was gone.

I personally believe in them though, although I haven't seen one yet myself.

I don't believe in ghosts like most people do: that they are the ethereal manifestations of dead persons. I believe in spirits as ghosts and that they can reveal themselves to people and even possess them if a person is willing; however, I don't believe they or their actions to be as Hollywood projects them.

i don't know

what i do know is that show "Paranormal State" is really stupid and made me much more skeptical. the show i watched involved them going in some trash family's haunted "home" (which was actually a trailer) and them dealing with a bunch of frickin idiots.

i mean, if you're going to have a show about ghost-hunting, can you at least try to make it SEEM like it isn't 100% planned and contrived?! no need for your lame little narrative updates either, like, "we're moving to the other side of the trailer now. mary beth feels some STRONG fluctuations here." SHUT UP.

Shadow of a person walking outside projected into your home through a room window by vehicle headlights.

BTW, you know what you saw because your mind is the very thing that tells you what you saw. In split-second situations, your mind fills in the blanks. :D

So... what objects have moved or turned themselves on?

I am kind of surprised that no one shares my outrage and teenybopper angst against that Paranormal State show. Perhaps no other ATers have watched it or maybe I just caught a bad episode.

PLEASE BASH THIS SHOW WITH ME!!111!11one

I would have to agree with the idea that the mind fills in the blanks for us. Check out this video on Ted about consciousness: Video

there are no ghosts, we share a common ancestor with chimpanzees, and you can keep going back until you get to very simple organisms, they have no ghosts either. no random mutation created the ability for us to come back from the dead as ghosts, nor did it create the magical ability to go to heaven after we die. these ideas are rooted in ancient beliefs back before we had science.
