I got laid by a ghost once, but then I woke up and "Rosy" was all wet.😉

But seriously, no, I don't believe in supernatural stuff. But I still get creeped out by scary movies/books/video games.

Something like that. Basically if you surround yourself with Jesus then no evil can come near you. But if you welcome the evil, well then be ready for it.

So are you saying you welcomed it? 😕

Some say it is images from another dimension, some demons, and some the spirits of the departed. Who knows, but I refuse to just rule out anything even if it can not be proven scientifically yet. (At one point in history, people scoffed at the idea of microorganisms just because they could not see them!)

That's circular reasoning... just because something hasn't been proven scientifically, doesn't mean every half-assed theory can possibly be right.

And why is it that women are more likely to believe in ghosts and spirits than men?

Not every half-assed theory, but one might be proven correct, hence the open options. If you look back through history you will notice that the world being round and not the center of the universe were once thought to be half-assed theories also. 😉

As for why women may believe more then men, many of us have a 6th sense when it comes to our children. This might give us an advantage in accepting something supernatural.

Yup.

Scientists are working on measuring these things, such as why prayer (even anonymous prayer) seems to help people recover. They are using EEGS, EKGS, double blind studies, etc to start to measure the unseen energy that we seem to have within us and between us. Just like there is sexual heat/tension you can feel between people, there are other kinds of energy between people that is palpable by those who are sensitive to it. And like all energy, it doesn't just disappear... it just changes form.

It's real, and it's natural. People are just either scared of it and start getting superstitious about it or just try to pretend that it doesn't exist.

*shrug*

yes, i believe. demons, spirits, ghosts, etc. are all rogue programs that have gone into exhile in the matrix. they exist only to cause havok and disrupt the harmony of control.

Damn.. beat me to it.

Since you said you're all christians, this might make sense to you:

Spirits and ghosts are nothing more than pretending demons. Demons like to confuse people by taking these forms, sometimes a demon will pretend to be a dead relative, just to annoy a person or lure them into a darker path.

The best cure-all is to pray to Jesus to cleanse the house of any demons. Simple as that. Demons can't stand the name of Jesus so they flee. Don't get into that séance or wiji stuff, that is what they want you to do because it is an invitation to bodily possession.

Yep, I agree, and YGPM Cuda. Believing in God and Jesus does not provide direct protection against demons and the devil. In fact, in many ways being a Christian makes a person even more of a target for demonic attack.

Just reading your description gave me the creeps. For some reason I get scared by thoughts of ghosts and stuff. I had a hard time sleeping after I saw the Sixth Sense because I kept imagining things in the dark.

Ok so my first question to all of you is do you believe in ghosts, spirits daemons, or anything evil or non-evil of that nature? If so why? Do any of you have any experiences in that area? (Come on Im sure some of you do, share with us)

Well Ive had an interesting night. First Ill start off by telling you I dont know if I believe in all this stuff. But here goes...

Im spending the night at a friends house, actually about 7 or 8 of us are. And there are the 4 of us up late at night. (Im still up 🙂 ) We hear dripping water in the bathroom across the hall thats upstairs. No biggie right? Well one of our friends get's scared. Me and another guy immeadetely know why. This is why: Earlier this year this kid, we will call John for now, was upstairs going to the bathroom in this house. He walked past one of the girls rooms to get to the bathroom. This girl had some suicidal thoughts earlier that year, and was telling us about it recently. She had told us how she would cut her wrists in the bathroom alot. More vivid then that, but its not important. Well anyway John was in the bathroom when he looked over and saw this girl lying in the bathtub with blood dripping from her wrist, dead. Now I know this didn't actually happen, but this kid was SOOO convinced that he actually saw it he was scared for a week. And the emotion he showed tonight when we heard that dripping just confirms it even more, he's not making up this story. Now I don't get scared easy at all, but everyone else in the room was pretty much petrified because we either knew why John was scared, or cause he was in the process of telling us.

On a side note, not sure if it would matter or not, but all of us Kids are 16-19 yr olds and Christians. (Religion may make a difference)

So do any of you have any experiences with supernatural phenomena, or any sort of evil like this? Do you believe it?

A funny thing happened the other night. I was home by myself, playing around on the computer, when I hear these voices from the living room. I'm like WTF? So I go check and the TV is on. I go, "What the....?", turn the TV off and all of a sudden my wife starts laughing from the bedroom. Little wench snuck in the house when she got home from work, turned the TV on and hid in the bedroom. 😀

Thats weird. things like that happen. I like to say that I don't believe in stuff like that but I have seen/and heard way too many thing happen that could only be explained that way.

Well, i guess if you ignore science, everything is open. What would i rather believe... that a ghost really did jump on my bed and visited me, or my brain just went haywired for a few seconds and i hallucinated something?

And what does the past have to do with the present? Just because i flipped the coin previously and had 3 heads in a row... that doesn't make this flip of the coin any more likely to land on a head or tail. This current flip isn't dependent on past results.

True, some people thought the world was flat in the past... but those who believe the world was flat or round, had no evidence for either. 99% of all 'paranormal' activites can be explained... just because the 1% that can't, doesn't mean it's necessarily something else.

As for why women may believe more then men, many of us have a 6th sense when it comes to our children. This might give us an advantage in accepting something supernatural.

6th sense... LOL we had a huge discussion on this in a critical thinking class. The truth is, there is no 6th sense... people just pay more attention to things that they expect to happen. A mother walks out the room, then has a funny feeling something is wrong... goes back in the room to check on the infant, and it's ok. So she forgets about it and leaves the room again. But 1/10 times, as she goes back into the room, she sees the infant is sleeping in a strange position, or needs help... then she attributes it to a 6th sense she had, but all those other times when her sense were wrong, she didn't pay any attention to them.

I had sort of a weird experience once. It was about 6 or 7 years ago. My dad and I were in his room trying to fix something when all of the sudden the curtains started moving and a really really cold wind blew through the room. My dad got up to close the window, but it was already closed. Every door and window in the house was closed and locked. Where did the wind come from if the windows were closed?

Edit:I should add something. My dad believes in ghosts and he thinks that's what it was. It's not the only "weird" thing that happened at that house. Another time, him and my uncle were sleeping they were woken up by a strange noise coming from the back yard. The next morning they went into the back yard and there was something that looked like a little crop circle in the grass. He also thinks that was a ghost or something because the gate was locked from the inside, so he thought no one could get in.

I was joking around! She just likes to mess with me. This one time I was taking the garbage out at our old place at about 8:00 at night. She hid under the stairs leading up to the apartment next door and jumped out at me when I walked by. 😀

Next time she startles you, just let out a big fart -- that will teach her a lesson! 😉

I do think there is something akin to lost souls or ghosts. I swear up and down till this day that I saw a ghost as a child. I remember being awake because my alarm woke me, and I never went back to sleep. My alarm never rang again, or in other words I did not dream that my alarm rang. So anyway I went downstairs to get breakfast and saw the ghost. Nobody believes me and I am skeptical of ghost stories anyway, but I will never forget that experience.

I remember as a little kid waking up one night to what I believed was an alien looking through my window. I couldn't make it out very well, but it was tan with large piercing blue eyes. I was too frightened to scream or move, and after what felt like an eternity, I pulled the sheets over my head. When I became brave enough, I pulled the sheets back and saw that it was gone. I quickly ran to my parents room.

I slept with my parents for about a week before they made me start sleeping in my own bed. I was still too frightened to sleep, so I would sneak into my parents room after they fell asleep and sleep on the floor next to their bed. We had very tall windows in that house, they went from the ceiling to the floor, and the blinds left about 2 feet of the window exposed at the bottom. For about a month I would watch 3 figures walk to the front door of the house, 2 adults and a child. Frightened, I would close my eyes. When I opened them the adult woman would always be right next to the window staring at me. When I opened them the next time, the cycle would start over. 3 to the front door and then the woman to the window.

This has been probably 17 or 18 years ago, so I may have been dreaming. If I look at any pictures of me from that timeframe though, I was very pale, tired looking, with huge black bags under my eyes. I'm not sure I believe in any of this now, but I wouldn't discount anything as much. As a child I was a believer.
