Yeah, mostly to see my away message and profile, but also sometimes to see how long I've been online. For some reason I want to hit that 5 day mark, but something always happens when I get close. Maybe I'm just weird

Yes, I add myself to my buddy list for the reasons listed above. I can see my away message and profile as other would, and I can see my warning level and online time as well. I can send messages to myself to make sure the internet's actually working, and to check my buddy icon.

It also means I'll have at least one person on my buddy list that's online all the time.

Also, if you use Trillian, you can check your idle time if you click fast enough.

You can with Trillian. ALthough, you can't message yourself.

yeah, i add myself so i can check my warning level because me and my friends have been known to "warn each other offline" many a times, warning wars are fun

I do it because I have more than one computer running AIM and they buddylist is the same for all my usernames. I am too lazy to edit the list for each screen name.

I enjoy finding out what I do. I like to check when I'm online too. I seem to be online a lot, because whenever I log on, it says I'm online. I must be online all the time to always be online when I happen to log on.
