Do women find it derogatory to be referred to as "a chick"?

Who cares? If they have a problem with it they need to come up with another easy to remember monosyllable that implies their slightness and fragility compared to men. The term Chick indicates being birdlike, which is a fair description of most decent looking women.

I think I usually only use the word chick when I'm in the company of other guys. When females are around I usually refer to them as "the girls".

That is like referring guys as "dudes" wouldn't you think? What's the harm in it?

Unless you're on Saved By the Bell. Everything insults that chick.

I use it all the time, but when I do it's tongue-in-cheek. If I am speaking to someone seriously I do not use it.

Acceptable for slang I suppose.

Of course the only word I know for a guy that rhymes with chick is dick and unless your name is Richard you probably don't want to be called that. 😛

I don't care, you can call me dick.

This callous denigration of our women folk must stop. The proper term of address is "dudette."
