Do these pull-up assist bands work?

5 strong elastic straps on the pull-up resistance bands can withstand more than 90kg/200lb.
You can adjust the assist it provides by removing straps.

But does this help you eventually do pull-ups without the assist?

I don't see why not? I mean that's any strength exercise right? More reps (even with less weight) builds strength.

Yes, using resistance bands is a popular method to working on pull ups. Regular resistance bands work ok, I’ve never tried anything like in the OP so can’t say if I like it more / less than resistance bands

You can train yourself without bands as well by doing negatives (jump up and let yourself descend as slowly as possible) and/or having a low enough bar where you can angle your legs out touching the ground in front of you and pull yourself up, reducing the distance your feet are in front of you as you get stronger.
