do "successful" minority neighborhoods exist?

meaning a desirable neighborhood where you're not afraid to have your wife and kids take a stroll at 9pm.

just wondering if there were any that weren't infested with crack whores and gang bangers on every street corner.

if not, why?

Because people with the education and financial means to choose where they live don't feel a need to live in a racially-segregated neighborhood and move to desegregated areas. Therefore you can make a viable argument that the crack whores and gang bangers are related to low education and income and racial grouping is related to low education and income but racial grouping is not necessarily directly correlated to crack whores and gang bangers in the neighborhood.

As long as nobody puts a couch on the front porch / deck. Once that couch goes down, there goes the hood.

Black people are scary?

OP - the successful black people move to the neighborhoods that are mostly populated by white people. They don't segregate themselves.

Ninja loans, ftl. Before anyone goes off the deep end, do some searching. Look at Memphis and ninja loans too, while you're at it.

NINJA= no income no job (or) assets

And yes, Black People were targeted for these loan programs.

I know where he's coming from (although I probably would count the Filipinos as "Asian").

If Europe is a continent, then I say India and maybe a few other countries around it should be a continent as well. While I'm at it, I'd start parsing out more of the world so it all makes sense.

That, or Europe needs to become part of Asia.

I wouldn't call a middle-easterner asian. are you going to point out to me that I'm wrong?

I don't think people born in the Caucasus are Asian. Hmm.. Caucasian maybe? Hey! Isn't that what we call white people? I wonder if there is some connection.

bullshit.

You're not familiar with the idea that two effects might have the same cause but one still may not be the cause of the other? It's a common principle.

I think we have ample proof that people of all races can be good and bad, violent and peaceful, smart and stupid, clean and druggies. We also know that the level of education you receive, the example set for you by your parents and other adults, and the expectations and boundaries you are given as a child play a massive role in shaping who you become as an adult and the choices you make.

There are plenty of white communities with drug and violence problems, and plenty of predominately minority communities (see the deep south) that raise respectable children in quiet neighborhoods.

For anyone inclined to assume that minorities grouped together intrinsically cause problems and white people don't, I suggest you watch Rosewood, based on the true story of a white trash town that rose up and basically annihilated the quiet neighboring black town.
