Do some alcohols mess you up

Rum will give me the best buzz. Two shots and I am a happy camper.
But vodka, nothing. I could drink it all night and all I would get is sick. No buzz, nothing.

The only difference that I usually notice is that it seems like I could drink a case of beer and be cool, but alcohol hits me hard.

i'm more of a rum guy than a vodka guy as well. any liquor will get me feeling good though.

beer however does not do much to me. i don't like the taste too much to drink it quick enough to have it's effects on me. however, if i'm already buzzing nice from liquor i will drink beer and keep my buzz going or get it a little nicer.

If I drink enough I get hammered no matter what I'm drinking, as long as it has alcohol in it.

So, the alcohol is meaningless, but the potato and/or sugar cane remnants get you drunk? Yeah, I am sure that is the case...

The fruity malt drinks (Smirnoff Ice, Bacardi, Mike's, ect) all just make me feel like crap after one or two. I get a pounding headace and my legs start to cramp up immediately.

I've also tried Icehouse beer a couple times. Got sick after one beer each occasion. It was my first beer of the night so it's not like I was on the edge of getting sick...there was just something about that beer that did not sit with me.

Most grain liquors like Gin and Vodka don't do much to me anymore (lol drinking problem)
Whisk(e)y's are a nice pleasent buzz, smooth
Rum is disgustingly sweet, I can barely stomach how sweet it is and rarely drink it, it does nothing to me
Tequilla makes me extremely violent, I avoid it though it's delicious

And the end-game, wine and cognac make me sloppy messed up, I usually stack a night of cognac as a pregame and then drink something else on top of that later, saves money at the bars and royally rocks me.

Alcohol is alchohol and has the same affect on the body no matter what it is paired with. It all depends on the amount of food you have eaten and the hydration level you are at. I am certain there is an outside reason why one effects you more.

Maybe you like one more and drink it faster? One has a higher proof? One has more salt/sugar and the other uses more water. One is better with food so you snack when you drink it/

Certain alcoholic beverages are more filtered and can be obsorbed into the bloodstream quicker, giving a higher buzz. Also alcohols have different percentages of alcohol content, meaning a hard liquor that is 150 proof will is much stronger than 80 proof. Since the volume is the same, you are more likely to get more alcohol in your bloodstream faster with a higher alcohol content in the liquor.

It is more that people need to realize that some liquors contain more alcohol than others and should be drunken slower.

If I were to take 4 shots of vodka right now, 40 proof, I would feel nothing for about 30 minutes, and then I would throw up.
If I were to take 4 shots of Rum right now, 40 proof, I would have a good buzz going for a little bit, be in a great mood, and then, probably throw up.

So are you saying that it is not alcohol which gets you drunk but some other undiscovered chemical? I don't buy it.

No, I didn't say that at all.
I'm saying my body has a different reaction to Vodka than it does to Rum.

I get mostly the same results across the board with the hard stuff and wine. But with beer, I'm convinced I'm incapable of getting drunk off of Coronas. I don't even drink the crap anymore because I can drink them all night and never even feel the slightest buzz. But give me 3-4 Newcastles and I'm feeling good.

When I say nothing, I mean, no good feeling, no buzz, just sick. It does effect me, because I end up just throwing it up.

Rum, on the other hand, will give me a buzz. I will feel good. Very good. Very happy.

I can drink beer for hours and hours and hours and not have a buzz comparable to a bottle of wine

whisky also treats me right as does 100% blue agave tequila and cachasa

high gravity malt liquor 40's and cognac tend to get me riled up and belligerant in a not so good way.
