Eh! Before I proceed, let me make this clear: Should any member at any point in time knowingly intrude my privacy with the endorsement of the admin. here, hence breaching the contract reached on May 2000, I'm inclined to seek legal recourse. So, please stay distant where you are. If I sought a personal relationship with anyone, I would seek a different avenue than a forum. Thank you.
"Polgara was a fake? Gee, I'm shocked. Who's next? Luvly?
Russ, NCNE"
Oh, my love, oh yeah! She's a fake! What did you think all this while?
We happen to agree here, hon'. The people who need help are those who spend most of their lives on the forum everyday and thus assume reality where it does not exist.
To equate a forum to real life is absolutely preposterous. First off, a forum is not a spot to be befriending people as though it were actually real life/reality. A forum is a spot for discussions of all sorts from intellectual to non-intellectual and sharing insighful information or albeit sometimes uninsighful.
When I come to this forum, I come to express my opinion and learn from those who have something to share. I am not here for bickering and rumour-mongering. I will not tolerate it from any persons. So in case you ever thought I was someone who made room for that crap of PMing and gossipping about other members, be informed that it is not and will not be wlecomed.
On that note, all of this rubbish carries on because the mods. have failed to enforce the guidelines that dictate a decent forum. All of this rubbish where people are bringing in personal issues and failing to respect the privacy of PMs should not be allowed to go on.
Perhaps if we got rid of PMs it would reduce the magnitude of tension and childishness that goes on here.
I should state that those who speak of how people who assume another character need help, sadly do need help themselves for assuming a forum as a real life. There is the absence of body language, there is little means of verification of claims made by people, there are a few other factors I dare not venture to state.
Perhaps you should rethink your lives and start to recognise that the forum and 'net as a whole is a good medium for creativity and exchange of ideas. Once you start to perceive it that way, you would appreciate the artwork of those who have done accordingly, for as long as there's no fraud involving duping of people financially.
And I should add that the analogy of this to pen-pal is weak. At least one had something called hand-writing which one means of assessment of one's nature; and normally people sent hardcopy of their pics, so there was less of the "doctored" pic cases. Little of that exists at the forum.
Nevertheless, if you take the leap of personalising 'net relationships, you should do your homework of doing a thorough background check.
Pathetic but through that this Off Topic spot has long become something comparable to a Greek mythology with a central thyme of tragedy that continues to unfold.
P.S.: Should you need an investigator, you can always contact me!
