<< Red Dawn,
you for it then I'm for it

You know that means you and Tex can't chime in when I'm sparring verbally with another, whether it be AaronP, Nemisis or any or your other buddies . Just think of yourselves as Anwar Sadat.

That isn't nice. We all know what happened to Anwar Sadat. Is this some kind of a thinly-veiled threat? ;)
Yes, I am just kidding.

<< You an argue with someone without flamming them. >>

What's your defination of flaming? Is being condescending (ie. little buddy) flaming? How about using the words ignorant, apologist, etc.? How about the constantly use of LOL? Granted, they're legitimant(sp?) words whose definitions aren't neccessarily bad...but do you use them in a flaming manner?
>>

Thats absoluetly flamming of course it is. And its gonna get heated in a political thread of course.

But my deal with is only with Dawn :D

What the penalty if someone breaks this pact? A public flogging thread?

That'll last about as long as a Palestinian promise of a cease fire.

Especially when guys like that has your hind end in sight. Shudders at the thought..
actually who knows what he had in mind. If he was an old fart maybe it was to whoop me up the side of the head with his colostomy bay. If it was Polgara maybe it was to puke on my boots. It's just to wierd and they had many of us going..even me. I had no idea that they were one in the same, I just knew neither of them liked me for some odd reason..Hahaha:)

Eh! Before I proceed, let me make this clear: Should any member at any point in time knowingly intrude my privacy with the endorsement of the admin. here, hence breaching the contract reached on May 2000, I'm inclined to seek legal recourse. So, please stay distant where you are. If I sought a personal relationship with anyone, I would seek a different avenue than a forum. Thank you. :)

"Polgara was a fake? Gee, I'm shocked. Who's next? Luvly?

Russ, NCNE"

Oh, my love, oh yeah! She's a fake! What did you think all this while?

We happen to agree here, hon'. The people who need help are those who spend most of their lives on the forum everyday and thus assume reality where it does not exist.

To equate a forum to real life is absolutely preposterous. First off, a forum is not a spot to be befriending people as though it were actually real life/reality. A forum is a spot for discussions of all sorts from intellectual to non-intellectual and sharing insighful information or albeit sometimes uninsighful.

When I come to this forum, I come to express my opinion and learn from those who have something to share. I am not here for bickering and rumour-mongering. I will not tolerate it from any persons. So in case you ever thought I was someone who made room for that crap of PMing and gossipping about other members, be informed that it is not and will not be wlecomed.

On that note, all of this rubbish carries on because the mods. have failed to enforce the guidelines that dictate a decent forum. All of this rubbish where people are bringing in personal issues and failing to respect the privacy of PMs should not be allowed to go on.

Perhaps if we got rid of PMs it would reduce the magnitude of tension and childishness that goes on here.

I should state that those who speak of how people who assume another character need help, sadly do need help themselves for assuming a forum as a real life. There is the absence of body language, there is little means of verification of claims made by people, there are a few other factors I dare not venture to state.

Perhaps you should rethink your lives and start to recognise that the forum and 'net as a whole is a good medium for creativity and exchange of ideas. Once you start to perceive it that way, you would appreciate the artwork of those who have done accordingly, for as long as there's no fraud involving duping of people financially.

And I should add that the analogy of this to pen-pal is weak. At least one had something called hand-writing which one means of assessment of one's nature; and normally people sent hardcopy of their pics, so there was less of the "doctored" pic cases. Little of that exists at the forum.

Nevertheless, if you take the leap of personalising 'net relationships, you should do your homework of doing a thorough background check.

Pathetic but through that this Off Topic spot has long become something comparable to a Greek mythology with a central thyme of tragedy that continues to unfold.

P.S.: Should you need an investigator, you can always contact me! ;) :)

<< I don't want to name any names and have the thread locked for beating on a dead horse.

From time to time various members are shown to have been posting under multiple names or totally lying about themselves in major ways such as pretending they do something for a living that they don't.

Where is the line drawn between harmless fun and, give-me-drugs-I-need-help?

Personally I'd say that if you are posting under a fake name and most of your posts are entirely outrageous and nobody really takes them seriously then it could be some harmless role-playing, but what about the people who post a few hundred posts or - gasp - thousands of posts and over a long period of time people take them seriously as somebody that they really aren't? I think these people need help. I think that if you're sitting at the computer for a few hours a day rapping out messages playing an entirely different role than your life really is perhaps your life sucks and you should do something positive about it instead of living out a fantasy to strangers.

luvly, whie the purpose of an online forum may not be to make friends, if you are a normal human being, share interests, have fun with, and spend enough time with people eventually you become friends with the person. Not really much you can do about it. That's human nature.
