DO NOT GO TO BEST BUY!!!! I went there to pick up the 110 pack of CDR's and the $99 GF3 Ti200

The Best Buy in Greensboro, NC had about 200 - 300 people in line. Some of them laying on the ground outside with BLANKETS!!!

FREAKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I turned right around and drove the 25 miles back home 🙁

Woke up at 5:45 AM, got to the store at 6:30 AM.

I just walked back in the door from the screw up of a trip... we drove 22 miles to Allentown, PA, parked the car, walked up to the line, stood in shock, turned around and drove back home.


The line was incrediable. Even when the store opened I doubt that everyone would get in, and by the time we would have gotten in everything would have been gone.


I was going to post the same exact message you just did but you beat me too it.

 
what kind of sale is on Best Buy.. maybe I will go and stand in Line.. there are 4 best buys around me .. all within 20 minute drives..

Am I going to stand in line like that to spend my money.

Though some of the deals are tempting, my time & effort are worth more to me.
 
some good deals there.. however most are "after mail in rebates"... I say screw that cause its hard enough getting rebates back. I havent got my rebate checks for my ATT phone a few other things..

but still I may go and see what the crowds are like.

Reminded me of when I camed out for Starwars... just about as long too but most likely not as fun as camping out for Starwars tickets..

I just walked into the "mann chinese theater" an hour earlier and picked up tickets for the show. 🙂🙂🙂

All teh hype of people waiting in line for 4 days.. and I walk in and get a pair for myself.

I see two things I am interested some 6x9 pioneer speakers (would be good rear speakers for the car) and the Canon Rebel EOS camera for 249.. though I believe I can get it cheaper. Though I probably want the next Rebel model the Rebel2000.. that looks like the RebelG.
 
The starwars ticket lines went all the way around the 24 screen theatre here. So I just went home and called the theatre and got 12am tickets without waiting on hold.

Is best buy getting tons of some same items (like cdrs)? Wonder what everyone waiting expects to get...

It was fun though.. more fun then Best Buy.

We all sat around all night and played games. The next day the kind folks from the resturant next to the theatre brought us free food (we were the lucky ones in the front of the line.) A radio station showed up and handed out free CDs and played music and the news heli was flying about talking about us.

Nope. In the flyer many items say things like "Limit 25 per store" and that is on some of the better deals... which is a reason we turned around. All the good stuff would have been gone by the time we got in.
 
I dunno-- see problems for my local store today-- even though they advertised opening at 7am-- they opened the doors at 6... I was back home with my HD by 6:25.... and to boot, even though they had plenty of stock on most items, several items were NOT on the shelf, but behind the service desk ($49 HD, $29 CDr, etc). I fear for the crud the manager will have to deal with from those who figurued they'd show up at 7 to get in on these deals-- I guess you COULD even make a case for it being false advertising. 🙂

Why didn't I read this before I left.
I just got back from the BB down Wendover Ave(In Greensboro) I was gonna pick up a dreamcast and the WD 60 gig HD. They didn't even have the HD and I didn't want to wait in line for a couple hours to get a dreamcast that wasn't that good of a deal.
 
I just gotta go deal with Customer Service to get my money back on the HD. It's an hour drive, so hopefully they play nice and I can actually keep the thing. I'll be pretty PO'd if they play games w/ me.

I went to a Best Buy in Cincinnati (Tri-County). The line stretched all the way around to the back of the store -- I'd estimate probably 400 or 500 people. Fortunately, once they opened the doors, they let everyone in. I showed up at 6:30 and was toward the back of the line, but I was inside by 7:10. Unfortunately, both the HD's and the GF3's were all gone by the time I got there.

There were a few policemen near the front doors -- presumably to keep a second line from forming and starting a riot. 🙂
 
Yeah, my dad didn't want to go for the same reason. I woke up at 5:15am asked if he wanted to go to Best Buy, he said no. Because he highly doubted that we'd be any of the first 15 in line to get the drive. My mom and I went last year, the lines were extremely long and to save $20 on an extra 20gb that I don't need, I'll stick with this Seagate 40gb hard-drive.

I did get the card, RAM, and PNY CD-R's prior though, so we're going to BB at like 10:30am - 11:00am to pricematch.
