one word about best buy: suck. I went there today and it was crammed with people jammed with loaded with cars. I couldn't find anything cheap or worth buying. a complete waste of my time and inconvenient. Goodbye bestbuy i never going there ever again, I hope they go out of business, they exist only to leech money from unfortunate folks who have bad credit and can't shop online. Make me feel very wise that I shopped online instead everytime I see Best Buy over priced stuff. nothing is cheap there, nothing.

I went to fry's and purchased everything there by price matching everyone else.

Total trip for 14 dvds. 30 Minutes. no line. 🙂

Then i went to best buy and realized i had done the right move.
Place literally was a zoo, littered with people.

I got to best buy @ 6 AM and stood i line for an hour. They just let everyone in and theredidnt seem to be ne violence 🙁. I was probably the 70th person in line and there must've been some 600 ppl behind me. I got in, grabbed a gf3 and got out. Only waited for one person at checkout. No one else in Madison WI seems to want a gf3 cuz I was the only person in that area. O well their loss. I think everybody wanted HD's or DC's

Hey NFS4? Where you live in NC? I live very near to Winston-Salem, I didnt even go because I tried the year before last (wanted to get WM2K for the N64). I ended up having to call in a favor with the manager of Software ETC in the mall.

Sleep is MUCH better than fighting the unwashed masses. (and that early, do you truly believe that they would be "washed" masses?)

*edit* just saw your in Raleigh. Do they not have a best buy in Raliegh? */edit*

I guess I value my sanity (and sleep) more than money. I've done the "Black Friday" thing twice and I'm never gonna do it again. Getting in line at store X hours before it opens in near/sub-freezing weather just so you might be able to muscle your way to the "hot item" you want before the next guy? Go Xmas spirit, go!

hehehe
my lil' bro wanted to go today.

at 3am he msg's me and asks if i wanna go. i say ok. but then u wake me up in the morning then.

of course, i know that my lil' bro can't wake up to save his life. ahahahahaha

ahh.................9 hours of sleep is great!!!

I agree 100%

Any good items are ALWAYS gone at BB sales. They usually have a very small amount of specials which go to the first few people in line. I hate BB for doing that.

they did have 60gig for 99.99 plus 50 dollar rebats but it was all gone they said within 10min.
i went there and look and guess what? it was hidden in a very small section, that you really have to look carefully. but all theygot left was WD 40gig 5400 rpm for 109.99 lol, what are they trying to pull?!
sell a few good deal and then try to milk the rest? well not exactly a good deal, those are just a promotion to get you to buy the more expensive one. tricky BB, EVIL is the word. i believe they have only 5-6 of it in stock this morning. I dont really need it, i got plenty of space already.

LordJezo, yeah, I hit the Allentown one too, I got there around 5:30 with a few of my friends, we got in, grabbed a couple of GF3's, a few packs of 110 CDRs, and two of those 16x burners.. good thing we had the store mapped out in our heads, we pushes through, ran, and muscled our way to the exit. Mission was a success!

I learned last year about the BB Black Friday craze when I went with my wife and mother-in-law to the BB near the Springfield Mall in northern Virginia. What a zoo! The line was about 200 yards long, and people were so rude it was amazing. It's almost worth going to see what miserable little sniveling bastards some people are and what they'll do to save $30.

I went to Best Buy at 7am and all I got was a lousy DVD sampler !!!!

Well, you ARE the DVDdude, according to your name. I'd think you would be happy about that... 😉

No BB anywhere near where I live. I did go to Office Max today and picked up a rebadged Plextor (Iomega)12/10/32A for $39.99 (no MIR) Got home and found out that there is a $50.00 rebate MIR for that drive from Iomega. So I got a nice CDRW for free and made $10.00 to boot!

>>I went to Best Buy at 7am and all I got was a lousy DVD sampler !!!!

>>>Well, you ARE the DVDdude, according to your name. I'd think you would be happy about that...

It had "VALUABLE DVD COUPONS" in the DVD case. - (translation : $3 off a FOX DVD priced $18.99 or above & 15% off any regular priced DVD. - WOW. 🙁

Well, I don't mind getting free stuff, but I REALLY wanted that 60gb hard drive for my tivo. :|

I was really amazed that people were buying TONS OF STUFF that WASN'T ON SALE.
I mean, why buy that stuff on the most hectic day of the year, when you can buy it for the same price a few days later?

P.S. - I can never forgive Circuit City for their DIVX shenanigans. I protested outside their store. (and yes, I am crazy.)

<< i wonder how busy is the bestbuy in ALASKA............

i bet ppl get penguins to stand in line for them ......
>>

How about remote control car with a flag with your face on it?

<< I dunno-- see problems for my local store today-- even though they advertised opening at 7am-- they opened the doors at 6... I was back home with my HD by 6:25.... and to boot, even though they had plenty of stock on most items, several items were NOT on the shelf, but behind the service desk ($49 HD, $29 CDr, etc). I fear for the crud the manager will have to deal with from those who figurued they'd show up at 7 to get in on these deals-- I guess you COULD even make a case for it being false advertising. 🙂

Look in the ad again. Minimum 30 per store. If the store has 100 in stock, they're not obligated to sale the remaining 70.

Oakenfold wow u got that at 3:00 am something in the morning. Thats pretty cool. I always wanted to do that not sure why lol. Bet it was quiet.

Yea cuz you know, damn Best Buy to hell, it is there fault for having so many customers. Please...its Black Friday stop your bitching, any store is like that.

I was at BB this morning around 6.40 and there were like 1000 people already waiting in line to get it. I was able to get in around 7.10. When I went there, I only got the 110 pack CDRs. The Shrek, Hdd, and GeForece were all gone. Finally I decided to pay the CDRs but the line was so long finally I just took it back and went back home. Luckily BB was only like 5 minutes away from my place. So I went to Staples and it was really amazing that no people waiting in line. I got the printer and memory. I am pretty happy about it 🙂

you know, casual b1tching cause it was crowded ok.. fine.. not going to a store because of it? you DO know what day it is, right? This happens EVERY year. try new years too. I worked those two days at best buy.. man was it hell... you just have to anticipate it, either go the behind the back method (buy first, PM), or just camp, or say "i'll wait two weeks and probably can find something online close to the price and w/o the hassle"

what i did find funny today was wal-mart.. went there going for the dvd player. we got out late cause we stayed at my cousins too late for thanksgiving (weren't really planning on going, we had our stuff at home ourselves). i saw several ppl that had the dvd player, and thought "we still have a chance." i was wrong, oh well.... BUT, the lay-away line?!?!? OMFG, it extended nearly the length of the store!!!!!! it was ridiculous. Ended up getting that no-name dvd player at best buy... hey, it was just needed for a secondary dvd for the bedroom.

I was at BB this moring at opening and the line streched across the front, around the side and about halfway across the back of the building and a cop standing watch to make sure know one cut in line. Yes, I was able to get a harddrive, though only with some very good luck though the video card I had bought on Wednesday which meant standing in customer service line for 30 minutes, but that was better then the regular check out lines, some were stretched halfway across the store.

I just came back from BB.. Bought a pair of pioneer speakers for 20 bucks. Its 20 bucks.. what else. I will install it in teh back of my car so I can have some better sound. Anything is better than teh jarring I get when I turn up my sound box. Plus its my Toyota tercel, there is no use putting anything else more fancy in there.

There wasnt much of a line.. quick in quick out.

Yaaaaawn.

I got Best Buy ad right here.. GF3 pointless card $199-$50mail in reb-$50Inst. rebate. I think you'll still be jacked sales tax for $200 tho.
So $199.99+7.85%=$215.69-$50=$164.69 at the door. $115.69 after two or three month. Yawn..

PNY discs? nah I don't use cheapie CD-R's. HDD? I don't need anymore right now, I'll buy it when I need it and by then I can get the same drive for the Best Buy special price. New vacuum? no thanks!....

My boyfriend is here(still sleepin) on my bed and I'll just spoon behind him and have a nice sleep till noon or so. Its worth missing Best Buy specials for. No way on the earth am I gonna get dressed, just so I can get something for less than usual at Best Buy by waiting an hour outside the door on a cold day. If I wanna get it, my parents would get me one anyway either now or full price, so why go now?

Oh god.. I'm not a morning person..

I'm going to bed.

whew.. I'm glad I didn't go. I got up around 3PM feeling pretty nice. Man it was a nice sleep. I checked this thread first thing after getting up and only to find out lots of bad stories on waiting in line to get nothing.

Not ONLY Beast Buy:

The Staples in Palm Desert (CA) was horribly disorganized. I went in at 7 am to get the Epson printer (which turned out FREE after MIR because I had a $10 off $40 B&M coupon for giving an online store review last month) and the 25 sheets Xerox photo paper for $2.97.

People were P.O.'d - they only had ONE advertised Palm Vx and ran out of everything else in minutes. People were actually shouting in the store.

In contrast, Curcuit City was the MODEL of the way a sale should be run. I got the Panasonic DVC camcorder ($399 financed interest free for 12 months), free DVC camera bag, free laptop bag, free 20 AA Maxell alkaline batteries, and free mini-USB hub (all after MIRs, of course). I arrived about 7:30 AM and there was PLENTY of stock and PLENTY of salesmen and PLENTY of happy customers.

OD was a disaster - almost no one showed up (I got the 30 GB 7200 RPM Maxtor HD for $69 and the 4x external USB/IDE Philips CD-RW for $119 - after MIRs of course). Actually, the OD online staff was out for the 4 day weekend and there were no rebates to be had from the registers. I have to return on Monday (and it is likely I will get to use ANOTHER $30 online cupon) to get the rebates and price adjustments.

At OD, customers swapped horror stories about Staples and WORST BUY. Frankly, I may throw a party when BB files for Chapter 11 (sorry to the employees, but they can ger better jobs most anywhere). Beast Buy hasn't got a clue about customer service and Staples is following their cue . . .

EDIT: You might remember my stories about BB and my resolve to NEVER enter their outlet again. Why bother? Any "deals" they advertise can be price matched somewhere else (and with better service to boot).
