My wife and I have been using TurboTax since it came out and online filing, this is so disturbing you cannot know how much so. We already bought this year's but I did not unwrap the box or install it yet.
Damn, all this Corp BS is way out of hand. We the people should be suing with our own version of a DMCA against this Tyranny. What is going on here is worse than what the Corporations and RIAA acuse the people of doing. I was prosecuted for downloading a free inoculous screensaver and these Corporations INSTALL spyware and monitoring crap without authorization. Where are the Lawyers for the people here? 2003 is here and it's high time we organize, revolt and strike back!!! :| :disgust: :|
I still can't believe the sh!t they put you through over something which was far less harmful than what corporations get away with daily. I'll be right behind you Dave.

I'm not a lawyer by any means, but if Intuit is requiring people to resubmitt payment for a brand new license after transferring TurboTax from one computer to another and not disclosing this in their EULA agreement then I believe they are breaking the law and infringing on our rights as consumers. I have sent a complaint to the US Department of Justice in hopes that they or the appropriate agency will look into these complaints. I'm sorry, but as a US citizen I believe I have the right to submit a complaint against a company that I believe is breaking the law.

I personally plan on going to their on-line live support feature and asking many, many questions about this...as frequently as possible.
That doesn't do anything but piss off innocent 3rd party support people. We hate people like you.![]()
exactly... all that will happen is that the support people go to their manager to ask how to reply, manager gives them some BS line to recite that doesn't really give a definitive answer or is just a flat out denial, and they'll just give you that response every time.
Hmmm.. so, why are these support people hired for again? Last I checked, companies hire support people to give support to customers. I don't see anything wrong if a customer ask for support. And if I don't know how to do something with their software, shouldn't I be calling for support from the company that make the software? The support people aren't innocent 3rd party bystander. They are PAID to do their job. Whether the job be supporting annoying customers or not, they are to do what they are paid for.
You can include Staples and OfficeMax for sure to the list, though Staples involves 3 rebates. OfficeMax sells TaxCut for $10 with a $10 rebate, but Staples has it for $15 with a $10 and a $5 rebate. The $10 TaxCut and $35 Money rebates are inside the TaxCut box.Originally posted by: tk149

I have not installed Money yet and I am rather curious. I have 10 years of financial data tied up in my Quicken files and I want to see how well Money imports all the data. I am not a power Quicken user, so I am sure Money will be able to handle the load for me. Plus I won't have to hit the damn 'Cancel' button on the stupid register dialog (I've already registered it, thank you) that pops up every time I load Quicken.
I've been using Money for a couple years now, but it wasn't until the 2002 and now 2003 versions that I think it has started to mature. There are 2 versions that most people will be using: Standard and Deluxe. For most people just wanting to keep track of day-to-day finances, some investment stuff, etc. the Standard version will suffice. For those Power users that want and use every single feature a money manager has to offer, the Deluxe version is for you guys. I figure myself to be a pretty advanced user when it comes to money management but I still use the Standard version because it has all the features I need. Deluxe would be overkill for me.Originally posted by: FeathersMcGraw
I've been a regular TurboTax/Quicken user for years as well, so if folks who are migrating to TaxCut/Money would care to share their experiences (particularly in the areas of importing and comparable functionality), I'm all ears.
As for TaxCut, I switched to that for the '98 tax year. I know back then the changeover was seemless and I assume it would be today as well. I didn't think there was much of a difference in the flow of TurboTax and TaxCut, but it has been a few years and things probably have changed.Originally posted by: FeathersMcGraw

Good, good, good. It's helpful to see such nearly universal disdain for the TT product activation. I like the one quote: "If they don't trust us with their software, why should we trust them with our taxes?"Originally posted by: Chris A
Ha check the responses on Amazon. Too funny.
Nah, my intention was to fudge things up for intuit in any way possible. But after some thought and a cup of tea, it is much more elegant to simply switch to a less Nazi'esque program. Many people have been loyal TT users for years and now they are losing them all...probably permanently. They won't go broke, i'm sure, but they probably will lose more money from defecting users than they will save in preventing piracy. The orginal poster's intent was to annoy call centers until they gave him a solution to remove C-Dilla...which wasn't going to help anyone, which I why I posted that. I don't mean to flame too hard, but this mentality I do NOT tolerate.

This whole issue with TT stinks. I wish I had known before I bought my copy. Anyway, if you decide to change PC's can't you grab the hard drive from the old and install it in the new? Or Ghost the old to the new hard drive? This may be a pain where the sun doesn't shine but it may be a solution to PC change out and TT.

Well spoken.I definitely don't agree with the basic notion of treating all customers like potential theives
