+ I tried using ethernet cable. I'm not sure if it's my mind playing tricks, but it "feels" like my FPS is a lot smoother. I tried connecting via wi-fi right after, and in the same area, I drop in FPS by like 10... but it really shouldn't thouogh right? Why would internet connectivity affect my hardware performance?

When a wireless connection isn't smooth as silk the error correction starts kicking in. With browsing and downloads it's just a slowdown, with online games it means rubberbanding, chars teleporting around, stuttering and other annoying stuff because depending on the implementation the game needs that data to go on.

And I tried using leatrix. Seems to be doing the trick a bit. My FPS returns to 65 (CAP in Aion) when all user information is loaded, even if there is like 30. But this behaviour is very inconsistent. Some other times, I would get 30FPS flat. This is still not fixed. Only way to fix it is to alt-tab -_-

OK, I can't find the exe. Instead... they have this shortcut which loads this "website" which is their new client. It's got a path to a website, instead of a distinctive exe file. In the process while the Aion game is running, I see aion.bin is running. Should I link that in CCC?

Yes, that's the one. Aion.bin. I remember Aion was different, it wasn't a normal .exe.

Use the instructions and point to Aion.bin. When you click the +Add button it will only look for *.exe files. Use the drop down menu to show all files.

Sorry, I forgot to check this thread yesterday.

No problem! Ok, I'll redirect it to that. I use the .exe which has a path to a website which is probably wrong.. so when I get home, I'll fix it.

Also, there was another comment to this thread that my GPU might be powering down due to temperature level or something like that. Do you know anything about it? I know nVidia Control Center has something like that (which fixed this problem for me with GTX 670)

Only thing I can think of the GPU powering down is the Powertune function, why I'm honestly not 100% sure since I do recall some early Radeons had a bug where the cards would throttle if Powertune was set to 0%.

I didn't have an issues with my cards in Aion once I figured out a good CFX profile. The only bottleneck was my CPU in big cities. Frankly, one card should be more than enough for this game to get acceptable performance, you'll find yourself disappointed with two cards since your CPU is going to choke.

Good CFX profile as in..adding the 1x1 Optimized option right?

Where can I find this "powertune" ? In MSI Afterburner or the ATI CCC?

Yes, there are 3 options in CCC (Default/AFR/Optimize 1x1) and one "other" option that let's you use a CFX Profile from a different game (I haven't invested much time into this but I figure it is more like "Dead Space 2 doesn't have a CFX profile but I can use the Dead Space 1 profile" kind of deal.

In CCC, it is under Performance>AMD Over Drive.

In MSI Afterburner it is one of the sliders on the main tab.

OK, so under CCC, what settings shouold I change it to? I don't understand what this 0% means lol for thePower control settings that is

Also, I added Aion.Bin, but doesn't seem like it's adding too much lol

Anyway you're not considering that every single MMORPG is shit performance wise. You may have a NASA PC and still barely break the 60 fps mark. Aion, Lineage II, TERA Online and that kind of South Korean games are rubbish. Take in mind LII, that game is 10 years old and it never ran any good in any system even today.

Oh I didn't know that... I thought no matter how crappy the coding is, the hardware would eliminate that issue. So I guess if I don't have the same issue with other games like L4d2 (where I get 120FPS flat, throughout), then I guess it's the game's fault?

I still want to know if there is a possibility to yank up the Aion's performance to stay at 60fps... if not, 50fps constantly... :(

That's why WoW and GW2 benches are totally stupid, even retarded, IMO. Once you get a few players together the game will start to become a slideshow no matter how good your rig is.

I see.... so there is NO WAY I can maintain 60FPS+ in a MMORPG like Aion, even with a supercomputer?

No, you can't. You have already an over the top PC by yourself and your rig should obliterate Aion even with multiple clients open. You can look for some tweaks and find some of them useful but that 5 years old game should run like butter in today's hardware and it isn't.

That is sad to hear... :(.... thanks for helping out though.

Could I ask you for some more help though? There are some unresolved matters.

Some solutions I've applied:

1) Add the executable programs and add it to ATI CCC, then use 1x1 Optimized with frame pacing ON
2) Use Leatrix latency booster which significantly reduces my ping, hoping to boost my FPS
3) Try using Ethernet Cable (not too much of a difference, although I am not sure if actually made any difference)
4) Upgrade internet and get 9mbps higher in upload speed, not download speed.

Now I need to resolve:

1) Why Full Screen mode, cuts my FPS in half at times as if my GPU powers down or something? I have to play in Windowed Full Screen instead
2) I've heard about a lot of CFG files that can be used on Aion. I believe it is the configuration file. Do you think you can help me research this? I don't know what I am reading on google...

You don't need more bandwidth. If you're on DSL you should try a cable or FTTH solution. Being FTTH the very best and cable (coaxial) way better than DSL.

Are you using the Optimize 1x1 profile?

Here is what happened to me when I played Aion:
1x7970 (or 60% of your 7990) == ~50 FPS max settings @ 1440p
2x7970 (0r about 110% of your 7990) == ~30 FPS max settings @ 1440p (negative scaling with default CFX profile.)
2x7970 with AFR-Friendly == >60 FPS max settings @ 1440p, but with lots of flickering.
2x7970 with Optimize 1x1 == >60 FPS max settings @ 1440p and no flickering.

The way CrossfireX works, using the information I gave you above:
Full Screen == CrossfireX ON
Windowed == CrossfireX OFF

So if it seems half your GPU power goes away with Full Screen ON, I would infer you are using the default CFX profile (ie negative scaling.)

Switching to Windowed mode would turn off CFX thus remove the negative scaling. Outside of reinstalling the game, I don't know if my explanations are helping, but this is how I experienced Aion when I played it. I had to use Optimize 1x1 or I'd get worse performance with two cards than one.

THanks for the details. It makes sense to me.

However, here are some issues:

1) I added aion.bin, but there are two of them,, 32bit and 64bit. Since they are the same name, I can't add both to the profile. So I just went and added 64bit and did the 1x1 optimized. While in full screen mode, it still powers down the GPU when I travel to other maps.

Can't believe you hit that high of FPS at 1440p while mine's only 1080p

You can make a profile for each. But as Imouto was saying above, these games your bottleneck will be your CPU. When there are x-amount of people on screen and the CPU has to calculate all their actions/emotes/animations/shadows, etc, the system starts to bog down. Then your FPS starts to drop.

In cities, I recall being in the 40s FPS wise. Hell, I remember my first time to the Citadel (or Sanctuary, whatever it's called) my performance tanked as there were tons of people standing near the portal.

It won't let me because the file names are the same lol.

Also, when you mention the FPS, are you referring to normal FPS when there aren't too many users?

I figured it be like WoW:
wow.exe == 32bit
wow_64.exe == 64bit

I guess try deleting the 64bit one and make it for the 32bit one.

I tend to base my experience from dungeons or questing. Cities will always tank your performance and it shouldn't be considered a good basis for your graphics performance.

Ok. Can I have both 32bit and 64bit on my CCC profile? I mean,,, just to be safe and actually have profile for the Aion.bin, I want to have both 32 bit and 64 bit up. I can't change the file names because I'm afraid that it might screw up my game. Plus, CCC won't let me change the CCC profile name T_T

OK, I guess I shouldn't freak out too much when my FPS drops to like 40 when I'm in Sanctum where there are like 30 people running around.
