Studies by the state of Florida have shown that removing both claws do not harm the Stone Crab in any way when removed properly. In fact numerous studies have shown that by removing both claws Stone Crabs are forced to eat sea grass which has been proven to be more healthy for their diet and regenerate their claws faster and female Stone crab have more baby stone crabs since they are unable to fend off the advancements of the male crabs. These studies is what caused the State of Florida to change the laws from allowing two claws to be removed instead of just one. Florida stone crabs are legal for harvest from October 15 until May 15

Don't know, don't care. They're delicious.

I didn't spend millions of years evolving and fighting my way to the top of the food chain to worry about lobsters.

Morphine, an analgesic, and naloxone, an opioid receptor antagonist, may affect a related species of estuarine crab (Chasmagnathus granulatus) in much the same way they affect vertebrates: injections of morphine into crabs produced a dose-dependent reduction of their defensive response to an electric shock. (However, the attenuated defensive response could originate from either the analgesic or sedative properties of morphine, or both) These findings have been replicated for other invertebrate species, but similar data is not yet available for lobsters.

Narcan (nalaxone) is a direct opiate antagonist, I have no idea what they are trying to say. For they layperson, if you give morphine (or heroin, in my experience as a paramedic) and then administer narcan, the drugs dont do a thing. (Narcan blocks the opiate receptor sites, so the drugs are rendered useless.)

Show up for a heroin overdose, give narcan and wait for a minute or two...problem usually solved.

I could go into much more...but this is about lobsters. They "cry" because of the gasses expanding and leaving their shells. Remedy, add butter.

Lobsters surely can detect damage to their body. Whatever form that damage detection takes must be unpleasant so as to cause the lobster to avoid things that cause it.

I'm going to go ahead and call that pain. Not that I care. I eat other things that most certainly feel pain.

I don't care if spiders/flys feel pain, I'll still smash 'em. Why would I care if a bug feels pain as I boil it?

Yeah... I'm not gonna care if an animal I eat feels pain. Food is food. Feel free eating grass, I'll keep eating meat, which includes delicious tasty lobsters. Plus, you don't have to just boil them, you can split them with a knife while they're still alive for fresh cooking/grilling as well.

Is it still cruel if you take the rubber bands off before putting them in the pot. At least it has a fighting chance. ^_^

Can't be any worse than what they do at the grocery store, putting them in that huge microwave. What a horrible way to die. Can't even see it coming. :p
