ramses you are confusing "top-of-the-line" with "high-end" FX-8 is top-of-the-line, of the FX line, where the i3 is bottom-of-the-line,so to speak,of the core i line,but mid-of-the-line of the whole haswell lineup.
But if computer people talk about high end they don't talk about each company separately,everything (every- and any- thing any company makes) gets dumped into the big wide pot and you choose what performs the best.
And in that regard both the i3 and the fx-8 are both somewhere in the middle,mid range.
