Do any of you read free local computer publications?

I occasionally pick up free computer magazines at my Barnes & Nobles. Not the best for news, but have some pretty good reviews and articles. Do you have any in your area?
 
I always pick 'em up if I happen by the library or a clone shop, where they're usually available in stacks. Articles are never that good, but it's a great place to compile lists and prices for parts. 😛

In the Greater Toronto Area (Canada), we have three of this type: The Computer Paper, Toronto Computes and We Compute. Yeah, they really do bite for news. They're all monthly publications but they're usually 2-5 months behind what's currently going on. 🙂

I have to kinda wonder how these publications stay afloat. Each is about 70% advertisements, but they seem to have a damned lot of people on staff, not to mention printing costs. Sure would be hell to put together a good clone computer without them, though.
 
Yeah, the advertisements with price lists are very useful. There used to be a User Friendly Computer News that had good articles about stuff passed over the mainstream media and was pretty up-to-date, but that was closed down. As far as I know, they profit solely from advertisements.
 
I read The Computer Paper and Qebec Micro occasionally... They have the same thing, Quebec Micro is just a french version of The Computer Paper, pretty much.

Very good source for prices and articles as well.

I second what Viper GTS said. ComputerBits helped me quite a bit when I was first getting into hardware and building my own stuff. I don't get to read it as much anymore since it doesn't cross my path too much.
 
Washington state publications:

Computer Source Magazine (http://www.sourcemagazine.com/)
Almost a "dummy" magazine, but I find myself picking it up to get an idea of prices from local vendors.

Puget Sounce Computer User (http://www.pscu.com/)
Has more articles related to the business world. Again, I pick this up mainly to get a feel for prices. However, the magazine's content and advertisements have appeared to be declining since being bought out by a larger publication.
