If so, what brand of snuff and how long have you used it? I've been dipping Copenhagen for 25+ years now.

Me too, I hate it, but I can't quit. It's a disgusting habit. I started in 1978 or so, first chewed Red Man, then went to Copenhagen within a year. I wish I could just put it down and not have cravings.

My uncle has dipped Copenhagen for about 15+ years. I've dipped about two cans in my entire life, and that was 4 years ago when I wrestled in high school... 90% of the team dipped to spit a lot to lose water weight. Wrestling was a horrible sport for weight gain/loss... After my senior year, I went from 170 lbs to 215 in about two months of resuming a "normal" diet.

well, I mostly crave it when I first wake up, after eating meals, when fishing, sports, etc. I quit once for a year and a half back in Dec of '94 then one day in July '96, I was drinking and asked a friend who also dipped if I could have some and I've never looked back. I started in '77. Of course, back then, snuff was only about .60 a can. Now, I'm lucky to find it for under $5.

Disgusting and rednecky - I'd much rather deal with dirty ashtrays than have cups of brown spit lying around.

I work in a shop on race cars during the school year and of course about half of the guys chew. A couple of times when I was really tired, I tried to take a small pinch to wake me up. The problem I have is that I can not spit enough. I have some genetic trait where I salivate wayyyy beyond normal.( I have to take special pills to dry me out before I go to the dentist) So basically, when I chew, I look like a rapid animal because the saliva is just pouring out of my mouth.

Kodiak for 11 years. Been trying to quit for the past month and I have cut down a lot. I'm down to 2 a day.

ha....yes it is. I'm not condoning it. If I had it to do over again, I never would have started in the first place. It is very addictive and very hard to quit, some say worst than cigarrettes.

It is worse than cigarettes. I smoked before I chewed and that was a breeze to quit compared to this.

Are you talking about some sort of chewing-tobacco, or regular snuff that you put under your lip? I don't do that stuff, but I've yet to see a study where the results have pointed to it being easier on the body to smoke (than use under-the-lip snuff)

And yes, I know I'm asking for trouble by saying that.

DIPS! Christ if I was doing two cans a day I'm pretty sure my lip would've fallen off by now. A buddy of mine in college used to do 2 cans of Copenhagen a day. My usual amount is 6-7 dips a day so getting down to 2 is a nice accomplishment for me.
