I've heard that a few times here and there. Is it true?

If it is, are the americans saying this aware that america's national game is baseball!

I think it is, but I also think baseball is boring. I mean they are boring to watch. both are fun to play, but do nothing for me on TV

I like to watch soccer!
Especially on the Spanish channel. I have no idea what they are saying, but that seems to make it that much more interesting.

Soccer is not boring, but a lot of americans haven't been exposed to it. Little league soccer is not that big of a sport but I played it. The soccer trend is growing in America in the younger generation, but my generation wasn't exposed to soccer too much. That being said baseball is not boring. It can be extremely exciting much like soccer but there is too much down time which is unlike soccer.

I don't think it's boring....I KNOW it's boring. the only excitement in soccer is when the silly fans trample each other to death...yeah soccer is great

I find soccer to be extremely boring, but baseball is really boring too. Women's golf and tennis is a complete bore too.

College football and hockey are the fun sports to watch.

Baseball's appeal is a feeling of nostalgia. Watching it reminds me of the good old days, laying on the couch during a hot hot summer day. Soccer.... it isn't really one of those sports that I can sit and watch. People (especially in like brazil or whatever) get WAYYY to much into it. When it is a regular occurance when people get trampled to death after a team loses, or a player is shot for scoring on his own side.... not my kind of sport...

Like millenium said, it has to do with what you're most exposed to. Personally, I can't stand watching soccer. I love watching baseball though. (I'm american)

So how regular are these shootings? Are you saying that Jeff Agoos is as good as dead?

In 1975 the NY Cosmos signed Pele for something like $5 million. This was to be the beginning of the awakening of the American people to Soccer.

I am still anxiously waiting.

I think it is very boring. Here are my reasons in no particular order...they are just my opinion

1. Too slow. Players stand around / walk / jog much of the time.
2. Ball travels too slow.
3. Field is too big which adds to the slow feeling of the game.
4. Generally games are very low scoring.. I think due to the large fields.

I suppose I'll do the other "major" sports now..

American Football - Like

1. Lots of contact.
2. Multiple ways to score.
3. Fast paced.

Hockey - Like

Generally Hockey has what I think is lacking in Soccer.

1. Very fast paced - They are obviously skating.
2. Puck is small, and travels in excess of 100MPH and can really hurt you. Takes guts to block a puck.
3. Don't think the rink is large enough though. I like a more open (fast) game.
4. Games are also low scoring, but there is much more contact in Hockey.

Baseball - Like

1. The shear amount of skill it takes to hit a MLB pitch.
2. All the unique things a ball with stiches can do.
3. All the little things in baseball. All the pitching matchups. strategies, etc are interesting to me.

Basketball - Can't stand it

1. Meaningful contact = foul (wimpy)
2. Doesn't take much skill to put a ball in a basket - everyone can do it, and it's even easier when you are 7 feet tall.

Just take a look at how few people actually attend the Major League Soccer games, or even know the name of their local team. We are not brought up watching soccer, so most people could care less. You don't like baseball because your culture does not bring you up that way... same thing with Soccer over here. It does not rank very high.

My preference of sports goes as follows, hockey, then football.

That's it, I don't want American football, or baseball, or basketball.

I'm Canadian :D

Same here. My favorite sport. Been watching all the World Cup games live except for the 4:00 am ones (have to get some sleep).

I enjoy watching it. The American teams are less interesting to watch though.
