Beer < Cider. It serves the same purposes, but isn't "an acquired taste", i.e. it actually tastes good.

They sell zum zider round ere that's an aquirrrred taste and no bloody joke!

Seriously, you could dissolve pennies in some of it.

I believe you, but around these parts hard cider refers to something in the 3.5-6% ABV range. Woodchuck is easily the best I've tried. Several other brands spend more on marketing, but they dump so much sugar and flavoring into their stuff that it's often like drinking apple jolly ranchers.

Round here it doesn't have labels so I've no idea how strong it is but some of the comparable commercial offerings are about 9%, so I'd guess that (and about 5% methanol on top ).

Eww never, they are all sweet. I don't like sweet drinks. If you're gonna drink a sweet alcoholic drink, mine as well drink Zima.

A good one won't be sweeter than an apple (as opposed to some crap like Johnny Appleseed, which does taste exactly like apple jolly rancher), but meh, different strokes.

I don't like the way beer tastes. It's either the hops or the barley that I don't like, but either way they all taste nasty.

I like the taste of liquor though, mostly rums, but also some tequilas and whiskeys.

I don't know about that. Bad beer is still beer. Bad cider is a sickly sweet mess of apple juice and Everclear.

I think Strongbow is my favouite commercial brand. A lot of others, like I said, are basically just apple juice infused with grain alcohol, and not real cider. You have to read the labels and avoid anything that says "apple flavoured".

I know a good cider house though that makes it using apples from their own orchard. They make a nice dry draught one. Go up there every fall to pick up some bottles for Thanksgiving. I actually think I prefer perry. Though you don't get it in the liquor stores here.

I can drink about one cider. But I like a few beers. In fact, I just finished a few beers :^D Cider is too sweet, and I consider an apple too sweet when it's alcohol. I'm drinking a glass of rye right now, and it's /almost/ too sweet. It's skating right on the edge, but is pretty tasty.

Strongbow is pretty sweet.

Edit: Perry is pretty sweet as well, nice though.

Keith's Cider or Somersby Cider is better than Strongbow...Cider is good for a drink or two
