I have a filling that is almost fallen out of my front tooth, which is exposing the inside of the tooth. My appointment is only in like 2 weeks from now and there's no way it can be moved closer as they always overbook like crazy. I'm scared the tooth will rot inside out given it's now exposed.

Would it be safe to dab some silicone caulk on it or something? What about hot glue? I just need a way to fill in the crack temporarily until my appointment comes up.

as long as you don't pack it with candy, it's not going to rot in 2 weeks. if the pulp was exposed before they would have done a root canal.

...and you're considering caulk ( which probably isn't good for you and takes hours to cure )???

Well, I never thought we'd be having a discussion on whether DIY dentistry is a good idea. You guys never cease to amaze me. :D

Gum should do the trick, plus that way you can change colors of gum to match your outfits.

That's great and all, but I'd have to wait for it to ship here. Good to know that exists though.. I wonder if Shoppers Drug Mart would have that.

Dude, get a fucking grip. Go to the damn pharmacy and see if they have it. I bought it at CVS.

I just read some stories about DIY dentistry since you spurred my curiosity.
I would not do it especially since you have an appointment. Just try to buy some temporary paste to put on it.

and maybe phone your dentist about it BEFORE.

Come to think of it, think I'll call my dentist tomorrow to see if maybe they offer a product. I'm off which will make this easier. I also need to find gum that has Xylethol in it, as it may help kill the bacteria that causes cavities. On top of regular brushing/mouth wash of course.

there's probably already been some dentin decay if the filling has gotten to the point where you're afraid of it falling out
