Jesus... I swear in one of them his head looked like it was over the rim. Probably just the angle, but still... holy shit.

Props on Gutts avatar.

If you want to see something really sick, like an actual head over rim... checkout this thread featuring Justin Darlington: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?p=30741634

This guy also has 50" + vert. He's taller though. That angle/picture is just unbelievably insane.. maybe 3-5 NBA guys can get up that high, if even that many.

With that said the white guy is amazing for having 50" vert. There are only a handful of people with 50" vert in the entire world. NBA combines have like 2-3 people with a 40".

My friend who's an expert in this field says his max is 47-48esque ( my friend has no job, all he does is train jumping and watch people jump and measure/compare peoples verticals and he's a legit S&C coach ), but that's still fucking impressive and moreso than 95% of NBA players. Props.

Take a look at :33 and 1:00, the ball disappears into thin air after he dunks. Faked?

It does not disappear in either of those. At :33, you can see it just behind him on the left side of the screen (his right) in the milliseconds afterwards. At 1:01 you can see it in front of his jersey at about his stomach. Try putting it in 720p for a bit more resolution.
This is filmed on some lower end point and shoot camera or cell phone, so the lines of each frame are recorded top to bottom (making for a jiggle when panning) instead of all at once, so fast moving things (such as a basketball being released after a dunk) can be distorted/not show up where you'd expect them too.
Its not faked

Oh, and impressive dunking skills. Wish I could jump like that

With that kind of vertical, wouldn't it make him a top tier high jumper? That brings up an interesting point of discussion. If you had those skills, would you go into the NBA or would you at least try the Olympic thing for a while? One of them has a clear advantage in money but I know that personally, I hold Olympic athletes in higher esteem and that's probably the road I would take.

Vertical is not as useful as all-around basketball skills for the NBA.

Found this. NBA combine results. Max vertical at NBA combine was 40". Most coming in much lower. I'm sorry but he doesn't have a 50" vertical. There might be some Olympic athlete that can do 50" but he can't. It is very impressive though and I can only dream of flying like that.

Woosta's buddy measured 48-49 and why would this kid lie about his vertical? lol you can measure it just from the video and it's more than 40...

he doesn't want to be in the nba he wants to be in the dunking contest. this was abundantly clear as the nba wasn't mentioned in the video or the article.

You're not seriously going to believe Woosta's buddy has a 49" vert are you? I looked on the NFL website and it looks like this years top vertical jump was 42.5". Woosta's buddy must be a genetic freak to have a 7" higher vertical than the best athletes in the world.:/

His buddy who is an alleged pro at this sht said he measured the kid to have a 48~ inch vertical, not himself. It's simple math relative to his 5-11 height, pause it and add the inches.

You're right he should have no problem jumping over a car with his legs completely straight down.

I never said my friend had a 49" vert... his is around 38-40" right now. He's working towards 45"+.
