lets say you need to render a big 3D animation of a design or something like that. something complex, rendering can take days so
can you speed it up by distrobuted computing?
could you build a PC for instance with 5 motherboards, five cpus, some ram for each, a HD for each, a NAS to store the final outcome, and gigabit lan for each?
if you had like 5 athlon xp 2000's thats some good collective horsepower right there. could you send the file to this machine, have it split up into equal chunks and then have them chew through it?
or how about....all those unused computers on a night in the labs at uni....could you use a distrobuted computing software to send the data out to all the unused PC's so they can crunch away?
