15 last I looked (last night). Still 100% Might have changed since last night though.

We'll see what the percentage is after the weekend. This could end at 30% once people that are not fanboys have seen it.

Why do people post "100% - 13 reviews"?

So people are aware that there have been very few reviews, ie, the percentage may not be very accurate of how people really feel later on.

So they are posting information, then discrediting that information in the same breath. So why post it in the first place?

Movie looks good for what it is, an action flick. Probably see it this weekend, more interested in this than GI JOE...

I hope this isn't an We're-spending-money-on-Iraq-when-we-could-be-spending-it-on-xx-slash-Israeli-Palestine-slash-Mexican-border-slash-we-should-all-get-along commentary... not that I disagree with the sentiments necessarily, but I would love to sit through a movie without the obligatory line or two about Iraq

I usually tend to side with critic reviews as user reviews can be absolutely retarded. Definitely looking to watch this.

1 rotten!

So far 96% (25/26 positive)

So long as the meter is still pegged like this, I will be seeing it on Friday. I'd liek to see 60+ reviews up though. At that point, the fan boy effect weakens.

In all its glory! From Mothership to Bullship. I skimmed hte article as to prevent getting spoiled. The author basically complains alot but doesn't do much to give reasons why like plot, story line, etc. He basically rambles about how horrible the movie is without having any sort of supporting logic.

I just gave the review a closer look. I think the author, Armond White, must have been drunk while writing the review. The first half anyways, appears to have no spoilers so read it and realize that this review is to be dismissed. And that's to bad. I like to read the bad reviews to see what the valid complaints are. On a good movie, they are usually stupid complaints. These complaints rank up there with mild retardation.

The Top Critic reviews look good if you just read the synopsis of the short review.

EDIT: Read the comments about the rotten critic: Guy apparently is always a moron

I like Sci-fi, but the previews didn't really look all that interesting, it looks like an incredibly predictable movie. For the record, I thought Moon was the best movie of the year so far, followed by The Hangover and Funny People.

<fake spoilers>

Just based on the previews, it's pretty obvious the following happens:

Aliens land/stop on earth, get placed in "district 9".

Tensions build between aliens and humans living just outside district 9.

Something happens, either a human gets hurt/killed while in the district or an alien gets hurt/killed, and all out war nearly outbreaks, BUT...

The main character finds some way to keep the peace by stealing something or freeing some aliens from government captivity.

</spoilers>

Or I could be totally wrong. In any case the previews don't make it look like a movie I am dying to see.

And any RT score before the movie is even out in the theater is suspect.

Inglorious Bastards also looks predictable, but the type of movie it is makes it irrelevant. As a QT movie you watch it for the blood and guts, the dialog, and the extremity. Doesn't matter if you can tell what is going to happen before it happens in this sort of movie. I'm really looking forward to it.

In what way? It's an effective barometer of general critical opinion amongst popular reviewers. That's all it's meant to be and I see no problem with it as such. Course that doesn't mean you are going to agree with it all the time. That's just personal taste. When I look at RT I usually look at 2 things. 1 is the overall rating. 2 is the rating given by a select few reviewers whom I have found to share my tastes. (2) will be different for each person.

If on the other had you mean the RT site itself, its design, I agree with you 100%. It's slow, buggy and annoying. One of the few sites that routinely crashes safari on my iPod.

RT is a bandwidth hog but with broadband, I don't have any issues with the site.

Reminds me of the television series V that was on back in the early 80's. This thing has been done before.

Except it's nothing like V, but thanks for playing. V involved aliens coming to earth to take over. They'd hide in plain sight by looking like humans. They'd impregnate human women by kissing them and shoving their tongue down into the womb (how the fuck does that work).

This isn't anything like V.

You're totally wrong.

This movie is some of the best scifi I've seen in several years.

RT sucks because a movie cant be either good or not good.

Looks good, not your typical summer blockbuster.

and from what I read in EW, the way it's shot isnt typical either. Apparently most of the movie looks like security camera footage or TV news reporter footage (something like Cloverfield)

ugh, that's the worst.

It's one of those hand-cam movies. That alone is enough for me to rethink whether I want to see it or not.

Exactly - I hate that Blair Witch shaky-cam crap.

yeah, I'm one of those weaksauce guys that can't handle the shaky cam stuff ... guess I'll go read the plot on wiki then. :)

The parts of the movie that are in shaky cam aren't anywhere even close to Cloverfield or Blair Witch level.
